Better later than never - Reputable Swedish Magazine Confirms MGS 4 for Xbox 360?

A poster at the official Xbox forums has stated that the Swedish games magazine 'Super Play' has confirmed that that Metal Gear Solid 4 will be heading to the Xbox 360 at the end of 2008, in what seems to be a year later than the proposed PS3 version. To make up for this delay, the game will come with VR missions and other bonus features. Super Play was said to be the first magazine to heave real Halo 3 footage and was the original source who confirmed that VF5 was heading to the Xbox 360.

The PS3 launch has been like a car crash and all the media outlets and analysts have been trying to get you to slow down and pay attention to them. The only reason I would pick up a PS3 would be for GTA IV, Devil May Cry 4 and God of War 3. Seeing that GTA IV and Devil May Cry 4 is coming to the 360, it's unlikely that I will pick up a PS3 just for one game especially when the 360 has so many great titles. Not to mention all the great online titles which I love. Although Heavenly Sword looks pretty good.

I really hope that the PS3 doesn't go down the tubes because competition is always good for the consumers. In an ideal world, the two companies would be neck and neck. Sony needs to get their act together.

This bears repeating: Hardly anyone cares about an effectively identical game after it's already been out for months. If MGS4 does come to 360 late, it will be no different. People won't care that the visuals suddenly have some anti-aliasing. It'll still be an old game.

as we all know, kojima is a man of precision. porting a game from a large storage to a smaller one will definately take a tremendous effort from his team. and after a mega game like mgs, who would sit in the office, building the game from scratch?

MGS4, well if its a port it will suck, news of MGS4 music alone is over 4GB on the blueray. so since the xbox360 does not allow multi-disc games, the will need to be a two disc game. get to point A and save and then hit eject put in disc 2 and continue to play.

or what they could do is make MSG4 a HD-DVD required game.
since we all know its lame that M$ won't allow game on HD-DVD, what they could do is put the game and some music on the actual dvd9 xbox360 game, but then you put in a HD-DVD disc into your $150 add-on xbox360-HD DVD drive so it can access the rest of its files...

or you get the dvd9 games and if you want to experience the same way the ps3 handles the game, they will just download MAPS and the music to the xbox360 HDD, which will only take approx 8GB out of your 20GB HDD.

there is a bunch of ways they can port the MGS4 to the xbox360.

Do u really believe what you said? Lemme give u an example. RE4 released for the GC on Jan 2005. Then ported over to the ps2 in Oct 2005, almost a year. ps2 sales to date are around 1.8 million. total reported sales for both systems is 3 million, which would mean that more copies sold on the ps2! Dont tell me u're now gonna say that there were more ps2 owners than GC owners? If u are, then maybe u should think about how many 360 owners there are compared to pos3 owners.

Simple fact is it is possible that it will come out on the 360, specially if it does not shift millions of copies, considering the scale of the project Konami must have spent allot of money on this, and if it looks like they won't get their money back the head of the company could force the MSG4 team to port it over to the 360.

Konami is not a first party developer and MGS is not a Playstation exclusive franchise. Like every business on the planet their aim is to make a profit, if that means the 360 port then they might just do that. Not saying they will but they might feel they don't have a choice.

Why?

It would be running on a machine with more video ram and more usable memory. If anything they could make better quality textures and sounds as they would be allowed to use compression. I'm not saying they would but their is no reason for it to look worse. Games on blu-ray from what I can gather are stored like movies, as in all the data is stored sequentially and repeated as needed, meaning little if any disc seeking is used (so cleverly taking advantage of Blu-rays storage space to cover it's poor seek and read times). This is a similar approach for multidisk games, so I don't see how the 360 version being multidisk (it would be a lot smaller than the PS3 version due to less need for data duplication thanks to high seek speed and compression) would make it any less in any area than the PS3 version.

ROFL I would not have believed it was true unless i saw it myself. How pathetic is that, even more so that they bought the hype and believe blu-ray makes games better especially in reference to PC's. Practically every game that is multiformat I have played looks better on the PC, even if it's just down to being able to use higher levels of AA and AF at higher res. Not to mention I have yet to see a PC game that reaches anywhere near the need for Blu-ray size disks, usually because the games take up far les space than console version due to the much better harddrive use for games.

Nah that petition is just another example of how desperate people can get when they realise the horse they backed is not all it's hyped up to be. They should just be happy with what they have and accept that right now they are in the same position as xbox and GC owners were last round.

To buys as many copies as were sold of MGS II :p well since the install base is that much greater then the ps3's I honestly think that it would sell more on the 360.... BUT maybe at/by the time that this gets released the ps3 might have a better standing in the installed base department. If they would want to release it I don't care. I'm starting to think that exclusives should be new series only, once a series gets to were MGS solid is a 3rd party dev should *edit* NOT *edit* deprive owners of other consoles of the game. 1st party devs is a different story.... Actually I really liked Killzone. It wasn't the best game I ever played but was nowhere near the worst. I really hope Killzone 2 can live up to its hype but who knows.

The first game was promising but just like the PS3 itself, it was all based on hype. The world was cool looking, the AI was terrible, the story was just like Halo minus the imagination, and it had bad framerate. Definitally not the "Halo Killer" Sony had hoped for. I just see that as the first time that they were exploiting their fanbase by saying that it WILL be better so they may as well buy it. And forgot to mention, Please Blades, don't start on that "MC is getting payed by MS" Bullshit again. :rolleyes:

But let me guess, that's them just playing a joke but whenever they do something like that with the 360 or Xbox forums, you see that as them being biased. That Sony Protection Group **** is one of the stupidest sites/group of people I've ever seen in my life. Anything Maxconsole has posted that they have done has been jokingly. Nothing about a major exclusive being confirmed for a rival system. It can't be judged on the same scale of BS that MGS4 confirmed is. They take no care here in wording their articles. Anything that could be potentially bad for the PS3 is never a rumor with them. Its always "Confirmed" no matter where they got the info. Thats the **** I'm talking about.

Not everyone doesn't read the topic or follows with the source, but that's not MC's fault. Just like EVERY website and newspaper in history, they always use titles to draw people in, even if they are somewhat vague or misleading. But seriously, them saying that "MGS4 going to the 360" is bigger than them posting that SPG says "the PS3 has the best games"? By your theory, someone could read the better games title and decide to buy a PS3 over a Wii or 360 because of it and only a small number of people could read the "MGS coming to 360" and buy a 360 instead of a PS3.

You would still have to give Sony creds for the Bananarang! What's funny is they DID release it, or a 3'rd party hardware released it for the PS2. I had a picture somewhere around here.
