I think that after the banning cases, the Microsoft to dramatically lost the activity on live!.

It would be real interesting to see the actual figures of activity for each game and comparing them to before bans started to see the effect on live useage.

Very interesting. I love how an Xbox Live Arcade game is #7 on the normal games list. Just shows how fun an arcade game can be (especially when free). I was suprised for about a second when I didn't see the Halo 3 beta at the top but then I realized, limited number of Crackdown copies around.

Funny how they act as if the bannings have not affected them at all

And where would you get the assumption that it did?

Common sense.
As a sysadmin you would notice 40000+ people less of server load. And that's just giving it a very low number based on the amount of views the "BANNED" thread has. Of course, it's not even close to that since only people from this forum cannot be considered a sample and also that like 5M 360's use(d) live.

I'm sure that there was a decrease but do you really think it was that significant? Most people don't know how nor care to mod their systems. Also going by "views" is a little ridiculous since I can go in an out of a topic a 1000 times for a thousand views. It's not based on how many individual people looked at it, its the fact that the same 20-30 people had an arguement over the ban and people just browsing the article.
My system is not modded and I read most posts just out of boredom while I am at work so I am sure I have been in those mod threads dozens of times.
MS hasn't really given a clear number on Gold and Silver users, just that there are around 5-6 million accts. I have 3, one gold and a silver for Japan and one Europe so I could get demos from those regions. Looking at the list, its about what it always has been as far as whats being played, and besides the system was banned not the account so if you have a second system your in the clear.
Until they give out a number of bans, which will probably never happen people won't know how big or insignificant it really was.

Yep, some XBLA games are very good and I've played some longer than several of my 360 games. And exactly, the only reason it's down is because of the people playing pirated Crackdown games. Still strange that Crackdown is above the Halo 3 Beta. When people with Crackdown can play the Beta and some people don't even have Crackdown are playing it.

That's why i stated that this forum is (obviously) not the only reference. And besides, it doesn't matter if your account is silver or gold since silver account consoles are also getting banned since the bans apparently have nothing to do with actual play of backups online, just with play of backups period. Saying that "most" people don't care or don't mod their console is actually not that accurate since most developing countries excel at pirating games and consoles, consoles which could definitely make an impact on live.
Of course this is just a possibility. As you say, it's also probable the bannings had no impact on live and M$ doesn't give a crap.
