So after lurking around the forums finding some info, I finally decided to ask if Wiifree needs pin3 to be soldered.
I always thought it was for the Wiinja Deluxe but now I'm not sure since after burning about 4 backups, it still says "unable to read the disc"
Could this be a CD error? My Emprex burner is on the fritz so I'm using my cousins Pioneer 8x DVD-RW burner with office depot brand media at 4x and 8x with imgburner.
PS the office depot brands manufacture ID is FUJIFILM03 so I suppose its made by fuji.

 wait can anyone confirm that the wiinja schematics should work for the wiifree excluding pin 3? I hope I don't have to redo it...

Why are you asking for confirmation about install pics ???

Not being rude but a quick google gave me the link and in the 2.45 download it contains all you need inc a diagram for 18 & the usual 8 pin pics like 12f629 & 675's
(Installation_schematic.jpg is for the 8 pin pics)
there is a readme and also a manual which the following is extracted from at the end:
********
Troubleshooting:
* Nothing is detected, not even original games
This might be the case if the region wasn't set properly. It has been observed in some rare cases that the automatic region detection detected the wrong region. You can fix this by starting the configuration DVD and resetting the region. Or by reprogramming WiiFree to your PIC.
* Originals work, backups don't
Make sure that you use good media to burn your backups. Check the wiring of your chip. Install the LEDs to see if one is blinking. If it is not blinking, then either the wiring is wrong or you didn't program the chip properly. (check: www.wiinewz.com in the forums for lots of information about this).
If you're still having troubles, report them on the WiiFree forum on www.wiinewz.com
I'm sorry if this appears a silly question but I certainly would of got most of the files together, read the readme and had the manual to hand with the install digram in front of me or at least on screen before I strated to switch on my soldering iron
your problem could media, not setting the region or a wrongly placed or loose wire - and deffo don't put on point 3
That point 3 is from the wiinja site and ONLY for the wiinja DELUXE
it is not for the other mods - even the old wiinja v2 doesn't use this point 3 on the reset switch - only the Wiinja Deluxe
do not use wire 3 / reset switch, check yuor soldering, see if originals play if still no joy change media, burn speed and even writers/programs
(nero or imgburn, 4x burns on decent media like Ritek G05)
best of luck
