Through the use of 1 Wiimote and 1 Xbox 360 controller, yours truly has created a way to use any computer accessory (even an additional wiimote) to control your 360.

Click here to look at the simple wiring.

Only 4 buttons are currently supported but joystick, and all additional buttons will come later(as well as a how to).

This is only the first "phase" or "version" of this project. Be sure to check for more developments on this project, and only here at Wii-FTW.com will you find the updates. Enjoy!

Ill probably write a how-to when ive completed the lil project. Also don't bash me on my driving, the mod is still in its infancy so nothing is pressure sensitive or easy to control. :P

Interesting idea, but why would you want to do that? Just because you can?

Pretty much. Its borderline cheating but with this mod in its current state I can race the perfect race without touching the controller.

Without touching the controller? How do you manage that?

Supposedly he can do it without touching any controller by having the computer send the information to the wiimote instead of reading a second wii-mote and sending the data to the wiimote connected to the 360 controller. He's tearing apart one wiimote to act as a ghetto bluetooth module. Since he can control the leds from the PC, he has the leds wired to the 360 controller.

But for the love of god man, why the big honking relays? You're trying to interface a 360 using techniques made obsolete in 1947. Look up any analog switch IC, like 4066N (normally open) or MAX4611 (normally closed) and do the job with the right tools. Switch latency measured in nanoseconds instead of micro- or milliseconds, smaller packaging, longer lasting, etc etc.

hahahaha I'm sorry my mod couldn't please you. I'm so so sorry, i guess ill just go throw this out the window.

Yes its a "ghetto" bluetooth module as you put it. Yes they are "big honking" relays as you put it. You asked why I used them? Because I could. Why did I use 1 wiimote like that and 1 360 like that? Because I could. Why didn't I use use a switch IC? Because I didn't want to.

Now how about you grow up a bit and go home. If you want to make a better version of my mod, by all means do so. I've said it many times on this board and this board only that my mods no matter how small or big they may seem are not to please anybody, I do them for myself. The lack in education I have in electronics forces me to use simple things like relays, if you don't like it you can go elsewhere.

I'm all for hacking for the sake of hacking. Reread what I posted; I was explaining why it would use one more wii-mote because he didnt understand what you did or were doing, and then low and behold, offer a suggestion on how it could be done with smaller faster more reliable and easier to solder parts.

In other words, you're welcome.

You're welcome? Welcome for what?

But for the love of god man

Yea I also start of suggestions like this too.

and do the job with the right tools.

Sounds like a great suggestion when you say I didn't use the right "tools" as you put it.

to act as a ghetto bluetooth module.

Sounds more like making fun than a suggestion.

Sir Crx - For what it's worth, it's a very creative piece of work. Sadly, as you've stated, some people just can't appreciate something for what it is. Personally, I wouldn't use it just because I don't have a 360, but that's not to take away from the work you've done and nobody else is doing. Great work, and keep it up.

What I'd like to see is someone that has a problem with the way you do it to make it better. I'm of the opinion that if someone wants to bash the work, then do it better. After all, isn't that the purpose of bringing these mods to the scene? If someone can take what you've started and build on it, then someone else takes what that person has created and makes it even better, we'd have all kinds of sick mods out there. Sadly, people are just content to piss and whine about the appearance of the mod rather than offer something better.

You're trying to interface a 360 using techniques made obsolete in 1947.

Sometimes retro methods can be the best way to conceptualize more complex techniques. Nothing wrong with going retro.

I agree! I don't always fancy being up to date on everything, and in turn I disappoint all the "hardcore" guys.;)

Thank you for all the positive comments. They are greatly appreciated.

This only would be cool if it would support the motion control.

The impression that I get from reading the exchange between you two is one of immaturity and hostility on your part.

Behavioral criticism almost always evokes a defensive reaction.

GREAT! now all your xbox360 games can be as uncontrollable as the wii games.

I gotta disagree. The post from Toodles came off as arrogant and insulting. There are much better ways to say the same thing without coming off as condescending...

"But for the love of god man, why the big honking relays?"
-Have you considered using a different type of relay such as..."

"You're trying to interface a 360 using techniques made obsolete in 1947."
-Not necessary at all.

"Look up any analog switch IC, like 4066N (normally open) or MAX4611 (normally closed)..."
-Just end it here.

"and do the job with the right tools."
-What do you think he's using the Handy Andy toolset?

I'll take the arrogant right on the chin; I can't and won't argue that. Insulting? Nope.

That is constructive criticism. To leave the guide as sir crx had written it is effectively a recommendation that people following the guide do it that way.

You can't leave out the "criticism" part of "constructive criticism".

sir crx,

Great mod! I discovered your work while I was browsing around looking to see if anyone has automated an Xbox 360 controlling using an external device. Not only have you done that but you interfaced it with a Wiimote! Very nice.

I'd be very interested in learning more about what you did. I'm currently investigating a similar project but accomplishing it using a little different means.

Keep up the great work!

i think it would be fun if you invited a xbox 360 fanboy round and pretend this is playing on your wii.(hide the xbox 360 and have the wii on show). just tell them the wii had an update that gave 1080p playback.
