Hey. I installed a modchip and it worked fine then i added wires to it to get functionality out of it and apparently something screwed up. I took off the wires to get back to the basic chip itself (cyclowiz v2). The green led lights up on the chip and the console, but it only boots into a black screen. the dvd drive still reads because when i have a disc in, it will continually read it. But nothing is showing up on the screen and my controller won't connect to the console. Can anybody help me- this is my friend's console.

Something isn't working, I think.

Remeber to check all your solder points.. but this shouldnt cause what your getting being you soldered on the DVD drive and not the mainboard of the Wii. Check all the connections thru-out the wii, you may have knocked somthing off or unplugged something by accident.

Can you eject the disk at all? I had a problem with mine where I was getting an error message, but the disk still spins away. Since your remote is not connecting it is something obviously with the mainboard. It may still sound like your booting up, but from how it sounds your not (otherwise bluetooth would technically work).

there are no sounds at all. and i unsoldered the chip from the drive and now it doesn't make the spin-up noise anymore... I haven't had a disc in, but I know that it did eject it. Because it got the problem first when i was trying to boot with a disc already in it. I do recall dropping it off of my lap while I was stripping a wire... where do you think I should check for problems?

i have same issue, I think its one of the wires on the cable that connects to the drive from the board (not the ribbon) i bent one of them and they are hard to see, Can i take the connector away and solder to the boards ?
Thanks
Paul

This almost doesn't sound like a problem with the modchip. If it's all the time, that's suggesting it's something else. Have you tried booting the Wii without the drive in it?

Also you should check the drive for any solder you may have accidentally dropped on it. Those points are pretty small, maybe you bridged two by mistake?

I doubt it is chip related or drive related.

Maybe a splash of solder or a wire dropped on the main wii motherboard and is shorting something.
