Hi, I am new to this but will be attempting to fit my new WiiKey over the weekend.
Now, i have seen lots of pics on here and all show the wire method, i was hoping to to just get away with the method of filling the holes with a little solder job.

Any thoughts woulld be greatfully accepted.

Personally I do not recommend the quick-solder method. When you ever want to remove your wiikey it'll be very hard.
Flux is not necessary but makes your life much easier, flux helps in making a better connection because it helps the solder stick to the pad better.

I reccomend wire method, just for the sake of being able to remove the mod or change it if you may need to in the future.

Here is a pic of my install.

If you're really relying on filling a hole and hoping it makes contact then you're better off leaving it to a professional. The other points are much smaller and a whole lot harder to solder.

I recommend using wires.

Also, make sure you have the required soldering skills and equipment.

I had never done any soldering before I did it with my Wiikey and here is my advice:

The pads are really small! Remember that!

You can use a 30W soldering iron like I did. Yu just have to be a little faster but that is ok.

You don't need Flux! All I had was some tinwire (any size of it will be good since you can take a drop of it and from that drop take some little tin for the pads), soldering iron and patience!

Remember to take a little tinwire! Less is better! You can add more if you need but. Too much will break it!

Don't use wires. That only takes more time and adds the chances of making a mistake. Quiksolder can do just fine! But remember to look closely where to put the tin!

I was really scared before all this and even more scared when I saw the Wiikey but it eventually went really well! You can do it!

Just in case, you may want to have a de-soldering gun on hand,

I used the short wire method...which is having the chip in the quicksolder position and using wires...I have just had to remove my wiikey to replace the console...and have refitted it using the same method in my new wii.

Guide here

IMHO, wire is always better for any type of modchip. less chance of damaging the console PCB, esp if this is your first mod. since the wiikey is only a 6 point solder, there's not much chance of messing the wires up.

I'd suggest, as several others did, that you use the wire install method. The quick solder makes it very difficult to get out without damaging the board especially for a noob at soldering. Should you have no desire to uninstall when the Wii frimware is cracked and this will be a permanant install, you could try the quicksolder method, just be REAL careful when doing the four points inside that you don't have solder bridge connections.

Go with wires dude.

"Quick" solder is harder to do in the long run.

I'm happy I did mine with wires as now I want to try the swappable chip dongle mod.
