The Halo 3 Beta. Have Bungie delivered the ultimate FPS? Many Halo fans are completely in love with the game whilst others, not so much. Take this site development director at Gamepro for example. He states: "Ok, and before you bash me below... I KNOW I SUCK AT THIS GAME. But I'm sorry, this game doesn't hold water to the likes of COD2 or Counter-Strike multiplayer experiences. And when you start crying about how killer the single player game is as well... I'm just going to remind you how bad ass Half-life 2, COD 1 & 2, Far Cry, and F.E.A.R. were." What do you guys think? Is he right? Or is the Halo 3 Beta ALL that?

except every person that has a regular xbox have the ultimate multimedia device because of xbmc. it doesn't have hdmi but who cares. the original xbox didn't cost $600.

You forgot, we also got a console with some games. Which is what i want from a games console, my PC seems to function fine as a media centre.

Halo 3 is a lot different to what I expected really, its just Halo 2 with new maps, slightly improved graphics and a few new vehicles... but I’ve not had so much fun playing online since Halo 2! :D

Compared to my fav online game Gears of War there's just so much more variety in online game modes and it’s a lot of fun teaming up with a mate on the warthog talking about random crap wall slaughtering the other team :D

I don’t really see how that guy can compare Halo to Counter-Strike... either that’s like Gear of War but with no fun... you die and you sit out the rest of the round and there only like 1 or 2 game modes on it.

I think the single player story of Halo is a load of crap but you really cant go wrong with the multiplayer!

Halo 3 is great. heres my score so far note this is for halo 3 and not just beta so i'm marking everying even the things we don't have.
graphics 9/10 brilliant crisp clear and better the halo 2 Yerrh baby
sounds 7/10 good but could of done with some backround noises, birds trees etc
gameplay 7/10 right now all we got is shoot the guy on the otherside of the world so not much of anything really
weapons 8/10 all the old (wheres the sword gone?) and a few new. I LOVE the new lazor/phasor
story non what so ever/10. maybe they could of given the first 10/20 minute story taster (but i guess that now leaves us begging for it rather then just wanting to continue):(

If you had media center on your computer you most certainly could stream pics, music and vids( depending on the format ) to your 360 from day one. The xbox launched with media center extender capabilities built in. How do I know, because I had it since launch and have used it. You simply went to the media blade selected pc and then it would give you a code you input on your computer to sync the two together through media center. You had to download a patch on your pc but it was there from day one.

Also how do you figure people blew $800 on an Xbox Elite? A PS3 with an extra control and game was $800. For that I got my 306 premium 4 games an extra controller and a play and charge kit with an extra reachargeble battery, and since it was a launch system I also got a remote and the pro also comes with a headset for live.

Who got the better deal?

u know what.. as a big time fps lover, the halo series has never done it for me. its just "another mediocre" fps. n he's right, u got games like halflife2 n fear [which i've been playin the last few days for like the 6th time] that are years old, but are still better than bungies attempt at fps's.

Halo sucks period, Microsofts key title to sell xbox 360s and hype the masses is nothing more than generic fps. It breaks no new ground and you can imagine where all the new features are gotten.... thats right they just played many fps titles and steal what they want. This lousy title may as well be ut2k4.

The beta was really fun, that why even though my 360 was banned I ordered another 360. Halo 3 and LIVE = many hours of fun :)

Bullsh1t. Just because you can't hold your own then die all the time in CS doesn't make it a bad game. I can pick it up once every 3 months for the past 3 years and still get into it! Dying all the time and waiting out is good, 1 shot kills are good, it makes you a better player. I say you give it another shot and not expect them to give you the halo garment of being shot 50 times with a pistol and expect to just lose your shielding:D

I hate Halo 2. It's over hyped garbage so I hope he's wrong. He probably is. He does work for gamespot.com after all:p

Thank you, you're the first one to say it as it is about Gears' having a pretty shallow online mode. Sure they have new maps out now, but even Annex isn't that great. Gears of War = Single Player game, Halo = Multiplayer. Unless it's Halo 1, then it's great in both areas IMO. And as for the latter, ya think? lol

A. Halo does have the option of not having a shield you know. ;) But you would know that, because you've played it a lot, right?

B. So what's so wrong about Gamespot? Because they're not like IGN and all fanboys?

And that is what you get for bying into hype and not hyping games yourself. I go by the rules of No Expectations, No Dissapointments. The only game I have high hopes for is Bioshock, and that doesn't appear to be dissapointing in any way.

What is so horrible about Halo? Please explain, considering it was hailed by almost every publication on the planet, sold over 5 million copies and Sony labels Kill Zone as its "Halo Killer"

If the game was that bad, why would Sony need a franchise to "Kill" Halo?

It may not be your type of game but to millions it is, just like I prefer Splinter Cell over MGS which I think is completely overrated.
