View Full Version : Memory Card Problem - PAL and NTSC can't go together?

I have been using a GC memory card with my Wii and haven't had any problems until yesterday when I tried to play the Zelda Collector's Edition. The game says my memory card is corrupt and needs to be formatted. However, I have been successfully using it with other GC games with no problems at all. I can't format the card because I have other saves on it and no way to back them up anywhere.

Most of my GC games are NTSC, but the Zelda is PAL, so I am worried this may be the problem? Do GC games from different regions use a differently formatted memory card? Anyway to solve this problem?

This is maybe the wrong forum but anyway;

The memory card format is the same for NTSC (US) and PAL, but the save files them self are not cross region. Only NTSC-JAP has a different save structure for the memory card.

So probably a problem with the game?

My Wii has a Wiikey and I used GCOSv3 to load the game. It loads fine and the games all play properly, but they all complain that the memory card is corrupt. I would just try formatting it, but I am in the middle of Wind Waker right now and don't want to lose that save. To be honest, I am not sure how I originally formatted the card. I am pretty sure its one of my US-NTSC games that formatted it. Only Zelda is PAL.
