I was taking apart my Wii today to install a mod chip. Unfortunately, three of the tri wing special screws dont come out no matter hoe hard i try. Is there any other way to remove these special screws without using the tri wing screwdriver?

You could use a Dremel and cut around the screws :p just jk'in mate. Splurge on an $6.00 screwdriver on eBay. You deserve it.

Edit: well, if they're stripped, you could use a dremel and a really small cutting disc. Carefully cut a small slot and use a standard screwdriver. It'll probably cut part of the case though, unless you're really good.

Take a pens ink tube and get all the ink out of it, or just use the side with no ink at the tip. Put it over a flame so that you can mold the plastic, once its soft pus h it onto the screw and let it form. It will form around the screw and you'll be able to unscrew it if you did it right. This worked for me on my DS.

Also something you can try to loosen the screw is to heat it up by putting some stiff wire (coathanger wire) over a flame and then pushing it onto the screw head with some pliers. The idea is to soften the plastic around the screw to make it easier to release. Be careful of course!

And assuming you are having trouble with the ones that are deep in the case, make sure your triwing fits the screws properly by checking the fit in the ones on the side that seem to be easy to get out. If your driver is too pointy, maybe you can file the tip down to get better traction.

I used a small flathead screwdriver to open my Wii, I didn't want to wait for a triwing to be sent to me. Maybe the right sized flathead might do the job if you have chewed out the screws too much already with the triwing.

they can be released with a small minus-shaped screwdriver

I find the smaller black tri-wing screws can be the stiffest. On most Wiis they come out no problem, but on 1 or 2 they have been stiffer than usual. My screwdriver managed them though.

My tip is to push down really hard on them, another tip I saw on the forum is to push down hard and actually tighten the screw a little before undoing it. This can losen it and make it easier to remove.

I did this when I modded my GC. Works great.

I've tried the pen trick with my gamecube, it works but not very well, and I highly don't recommend it for the triwings. Just buy a 3 dollar tri wing driver.

A hammer and chisel will do nicely if your too tight to buy a trwing. A sledgehammer would probably do the job also.

Just buy a bloody triwing.

Does the screwdriver have a good grip? if not, you probally got a crappy one. If it is, just get a new one, I bought mine off ebay and it was described as the perfect size for the Wii, and it was.

Is it specefic screws you cant get out, or any of the triwings?

Turn them to the left

Must be a really crap screwdriver as I paid £3 for one and it works a treat.
