Some new details surrounding the upcoming Halo 3 campaign have been leaked. It appears that Bungie have some big surprises lined up for the sure-fire hit, possibly one of the biggest of them all is the inclusion of 4-player co-op over Live and system link. Fans have been begging for the feature, and it seems Bungie have adhered to the fans pleas. Co-op multiplayer has proved to be extremly popular amongst titles such as Tom Clancy's Rainbow Six and Epic's blockbuster, Gears Of War, with the inclusion of 4-player co-op, it looks like Bungie's attempting to raise the bar.
So what’s the big news? Well, scrolling through the list of onscreen text for party menus one sentence in particular stands out:
The game cannot start because all players are set to observer. Too many players for splitscreen. Only 2 players may play splitscreen coop on the same Xbox 360 console. The party size is too large to start the game. Up to 4 players may play coop on Xbox Live or System Link. Loading information from Xbox Live…
That’s right, 4 player Co-operative play will be included in in Halo 3. Available both online over Xbox Live and also locally via System link. We begged for it’s inclusion, we got it.
Bungie look all set to live up to their promises delivering all they can with this final entry in the Halo trilogy. This is gonna be sweet.

I find it all to interesting that halo 3 is in this mess of rumors and hype. Im not a huge fan but there isnt anything wrong with mindless killing from time to time. The Co-op feature sounds good and all but i think the selling point will be a much more refined multi player. That is where they made their money. Idk, i hope it is as good as they say, Halo 1 got me into ffs's.

Better be local via the same machine as well. I am so sick of devs ignoring the fact that more than 1 person may use the same XBOX. Same thing with game saves. let me have as many as i please, or at least more than 1

i dont really care. after the microsoft banning (not that i got banned, and i immidietly cancelled my live account), plus after their recent pseudo sony "im too big to care for users now" thing, i want the 360 to go down and i want it to go down hard.
i cant believe it, nintendo made my turn on them, sony gave me no choice but to hate them and now microsoft is doing it.

I feel the same way, the only company thats not acting like there too good is nintendo, microsoft is acting like they don't care about the users.. well i hope they crash and burn just like sony. I have an xbox360 btw, it didnt get banned, but they act like they dont care.

Yeah, hope they dont sacrifice 2 player split screen co-op for this.... I completed both halo 1 and 2 co-op with my mate and its an awesome experience. Much prefer split screen co op to online tbh.

Oh yes, something Halo fans have wanted since Halo 1. Just wish they would have had it offline too.

This post says that it will have up to 4 player coop over live or system link. But only 2 player coop on a single machine.
Why is everyone so upset that Microsoft is banning modders. LOL. Everyone is like "F Microsoft, I'm going to Sony!"
You know, the PS3 has no way of modding yet right? Also you can be sure that if Sony detects a mod chip in the PS3, they will ban you as well. They did it with the PS2. Although you can change your machine id with the PS2, I doubt it will be that simple with the PS3.
So when your banned from the Playstation Network, then what? "F Sony and F Microsoft"? "They should let me mod because developers get paid too much and I deserve free games"? "I'm going to Nintendo."?
You all sound like a bunch of whiny babies. "I don't like you Mommy! I like Daddy better!"

Exactly. Honestly if one of these Iso loaders for the ps3 does end up to be real it can spell real trouble. If people think sony is going to allow you to load up your iso loader and play the pirated games on there network aswell then you really have another thing coming to you. If any of these iso loaders prove to be true and require no hardware modification only the ease of copying the software onto your hardrive with the iso's then it's going to spell disaster specially with the ps3 console base being so small right now and individual game sales being small because of it.

When you see people that do that, the truth is they were probably "With Sony" before they bought a 360. In other words, they were huge PS2 gamers and didn't care to ever get anything else, but wanted a next gen console in 2005 so they bought the 360 OR they waited until the PS3 was announced, saw the price and bought a 360 OR they just waited until after the PS3 was launched, saw that it wasn't going to be as great as Sony made it, and bought a 360. Either way, you're absolutely correct. The modding community is all over the 360 and Wii but not so much the PS3. Could be because there's not so much demand for it to be hacked.

The commenter was right:
As far as the disclaimer goes, yeah you put one there, but people do not pay attention to that because they do not want to; when the story gets reported elsewhere, they will kindly omit such information. Also, using just the above article as an example, you go on to say “4 player Co-operative play WILL be included”. There is absolutely no guarantee that it will be, but you readily state it as fact.
We don't know for sure if it's in the final game or not.

i've never seen such bone headed responses. you modified your console which everybody knew was against the tos for there online service but you did it anyway. all the nfo for the fw you flashed to your rom clearly say "use on live at your own risk" Again you went ahead and flashed. this happened years ago on the original xbox so common sense should have told you it was going to happen this time time too. be mad all you want but ms is just trying to protect the developers investments
Back to the subject, this is a great addition to halo, never liked the multiplayer aspect of games but really liked the co op

I think this sounds very interesting in the realm of Halo. If it turns out to be a rumor, then I won't be that upset.
I'm still looking forward to buying a 360 one day, and this will be on my list of games to buy.
And to those hurting about the bans for firmware and who were banned for custom firmware... you knew what you were getting into when you did that. The only reason I can think of to force firmware down is for piracy, and in that case Microsoft had every right to ban their arses from live. There should be no reason to not accept a firmware upgrade besides piracy.:\

Don't get me wrong I love variety and options.
Won't 4 player co-op make the campaign a little too easy though?

Good question, maybe they'll limit the difficulty level to Legendary. I hope not though, playing Co-Op on easy is extremely fun on Halo 1. lol. But if you play it on Legendary, it's still really hard on Co-Op (2).
