If there is anyone out there who has successfully installed divx movies & music to a non-sony ps2 hdd can please tell me how?
The sms manual does not talk about it in detail and I have tried to move movies over using flash fxp & filezilla but no luck. I have created a partition on the hdd using dms but I do not see it in the ftp window (all I see is hdd/0:)
I have put a bunch of games on my hdd using hdadvance and have been able to move ISOs between the pc & ps2 using hdl dumb (I love that program!).
I bet I am just making some dumb little mistake but I cant figure it out.
where do the movie & music files go on the hdd for sms to recognize them?
thanks.

Just make a standard partition on the drive with the DMS HDD Format tool. I called mine MEDIA. Then copy the files from USB or DVD to the HDD via uLaunchELF. You could also copy across the ethernet, but from DVD is faster. USB is USB 1, so it's not much faster than ethernet.
Use the folder cut-n-paste to copy the files... otherwise you're stuck copying one at a time, which can take forever.

thanks for the response
I will try the method of copying media to a flashdrive and using ulaunchelf for now.
There has got to be a way to move the files to the hdd from a direct ftp connection with the pc. If I can do it with 4GB games using hdl dump, then why not 700mb movies?
This would be easier to do for me because I could just hit send and let the pc do its thing. Using a flashdrive is 2 steps and will take longer.

I already said above that you could do that with uLaunchELF, but that USB/DVD is faster. If you have the time and ethernet is more convenient, feel free to go that route. :D

ah yes I see you did say that! Thanks for clearing that up for me.
I am going to replace my keylaucher boot elf with the ulaunchelf then.
thanks again!

You're welcome. If you find something that works better for you, be sure to let folks know. I used other things before uLaunchELF, and someday something better might come along.
