hi dudes and dudettes

i've just bought a qoob sx from gamefreax.de - and installed it without any problems.

I can not flash the darn thingy....

When I boot the Gamecube, the qoob-scene comes up on the screen with several choices. One choice is disc-menu (press b) - but when I do that a text-window with following emerges: "Waiting for network upda" and "press restart"....

I'm a bit worried, because the text "upda" should be "update" - could it be faulty chip....

The gamecube will not react to any flash.elf files I send to is via PSO and BBA - any other program I send to it works.....when I send the update_flash_1.2.elf file the screen just go blank....

I have not any problem booting original games..

Any help would be great......

/T.

First, the "upda" is ok. It's a bug, should be "update". Nothing to worry about, is the same here and .everything works.

Next, to upgrade, you *have* to use a SX' upgrade tool, no Pro. They are different. They are not exchangable.

Then, to upgrade, you have to hold "left" (and 'b') on the dpad. this will force the backup bios to not boot the main bios, thus allowing update.

you can check the bios by looking at the version number if it says "(c) qoob" it's the backup bios, if it's a version, it's a "full" one (flashed). The flash is protected once the "full" bios did run, so you *need* to go into the backup bios. It won't work otherwise. The upgrade tool will hang with "erasing.." (but not black screen - that's a different problem) when launched from real bios.

Try to not use PSO. The backup bios has integrated dolup-support (port 4000, as usual), at 192.168.1.32.

Hi DrMatrix

Thanks for your effort and support - if you have time I have som further questions - where can I find the sx-upgrade-tool. You are not think about the tool on qoobchip.com?

and where did you find the information about hold 'left' and press 'b'?? I cannot find any doc/manual on my qoobchip....
