View Full Version : XBE won't launch on genuine debug kit

This loader would be a great way to allow us to run retail games on our dev kits. Unfortunately the XBE, as distributed, appears to be "patched" to retail.

Sadly, genuine Xbox Dev Kits will not run retail XBEs. I don't have the ability to compile the source myself (we use VS.NET here and I'm not a programmer anyway).

Any ideas on getting PBL to run on a genuine debug kit?

I don't even have a Dev kit, but I know there's a way to reboot into "retail" mode.
Do a little research and I'm sure you'll find it.

There are several ways to boot the dev kit into "retail" mode. For example, nodebug.xbe and xswitch allow you to do this. However, this does not enable a debug kit to run retail software. Neither genuine Xbox Game Discs nor Backups of retail games can be played on a Debug Kit, even with the tricks noted above.

So, since I need this box to remain a debug kit, I thought the Phoenix Bios Loader would be a great way to temporariily allow the box to run retail games without any permanent damage to the Debug Bios (although we can generally re-flash them with the recovery disks).

Try dexbe by Dextrose, it may allow u to set the debug flag, but, as I still don't have a Dev-kit, I can't promise anything.

Yep, already tried DeXBE and patched the file to Debug but it did not work. I haven't had much luck with that tool.
