Anyone? What did they do?
My Wii (a launch system) has been displaying artifacts lately, and its modded with a Wiikey. Nintendo seems to be the only place capable of fixing the bad GPU unfortunately.

well you modded it, so therefore you cannot rma it, that would imply its under warranty right?
you would have to do the out of warranty route with nintendo; they have a special number for out of warranty cases, just call them tell them the problem your having with your gpu, tell them the truth that you opened it .
i fried my wii trying to install a modchip told them the whole truth on what happened on me trying to put a modchip on there, it was $75 dollars and i got a new wii in 2 weeks.
you can either tell them you opened it to try to 'fix it' or you opened it to put a modchip in there but either way ur gonna have to tell them you opened it so they know the warranty has been voided.

I wonder what they would say/do if you DIDN'T tell them you opened it. I would think that if you did a wire install and used some braid to clean up the points, would they still be able to tell? I, of course, cannot do this as I have drilled a hole in my wii, but am curious what would happen. Do you think that they actually open the case and inspect it for every return they get?

Best bet I'de say is be honest. Ask them what they'll do with your Wii. If you have to pay $75, so what...better than losing an entire Wii.

Rather than listen to multiple people who have never tried it, it is best to try yourself. I have seen and personally had luck RMA'ing a Wii that has been modded, both botched and otherwise using Advanced RMA.
Never tried with a Wii, but I was successful sending in an Xbox 360 with a botched mod attempt.

the only store warranty for the 2 year that is cheap imo is target.
BUT i have heard good things from best buy console warranty back in the xbox1 days.

Okay I went to Minilec today and got my Wii replaced for $75 since its out of warranty. They wouldn't return the chip though.

i think they would be able to tell, theres also those lil stickies on top of the screws, thats easily noticable if its ever been removed, im not saying its completely impossible to fake out nintendo on whether u opened it or not, im sure itd be really really hard to fool those guys, they did design it lol.
2 yr warranty is useless, u can only get it replaced with another one IF they have it in stock, and unless im in a different dimension those things are out of stock ALL the time.
