Wiikey Update Coming:D
[07.04.29] Some more info on the coming update
We have received a lot of questions on the coming update lately.
The upgrade is now near completion. It has been delayed due to a few factors; the base system disc took longer than expected to complete, and there have been a few unexpected issues that are currently being worked on.
Making the update incompatible with clones is NOT one of those issues, though. We would also like to clarify that we do not intend to brick or render clones inoperable.

Where does anyone say that its okay? Isn't there a sticky about badmouthing chips and making pointless threads? Talk about a waste of a sticky.

Agreed. This site would be a lot better if the mods weren't so hypocritical.

I dont believe the Wiikey team at all. They have done nothing to warrant trust. In fact, they have done just the opposite. The moderators at the "offical" site stated that clone kill was the sole reason they would not release an update.
Why the conflict. Either someone was misinformed (kinda doubt it), or they had to give up because it couldnt be patched to kill clones. On the other hand (and this is probably the case), they did what most groups would do, release an initial update clean, then they intend to kill clones silently with a second or third update. Of course this is all pending an update to begin with.
I will state this again, but Im sure people wont listen. IF Wiikey actually does release an update, people with clones need to hold off installing it for a few days until results come in. DONT TRUST THE WIIKEY TEAM. THEY HAVENT EARNED IT YET.

Unless you bought a CLONE ... why the anonmosity? why would they want to give you anything ? the update is for people that bought the chip for $40 and want their gamecube games WORKING. other than that I don't give a sh!t about future releases.

The fact that some GC games won't work correctly with the Wiikey is annoying, but that pales in comparison to Cyclowiz's various problems before the update... most notably the inability of the chip to read Wii backups at 6x thus causing many Wii backups to play incorrectly. That made the Wiz's update more vital, and the various delays more unacceptable to consumers.

Its a ****ing wii mod-chip. If you bought a wii and a wii mod-chip with the intent to play gamecube games then you seriously have you ass on backwards.
I didn't buy my PS2 to play PS1 games, and I didn't buy my 360 with the hopes of playing Xbox games. I didn't buy my PS3 to play PS2 games (although hats what I wound up doing >.>)
If you want to play gamecube back-ups then buy a game cube and mod it.
If you want to play wii backups then buy a wii and mod it. Stop getting the two confused. Its main function is to play wii games, not GC games. That why its called the wii and not the Gamecube 1.5, or the Gamecube that plays bigger discs. Its the ****ing wii and a ****ing wii modchips primary reason to exist its to play ****ing wii games. In that regards the wiikey works wonderfully.
Not that they get away scott free. It still says on their website that the chip supports audiofix but it doesn't. And I also agree that the mods should stop being so hypocritical. I mean, the guy who actually posted that sticky, in other tread badmouthed the wiikey. The same guy who said to stop badmouthing chips!

not trying to bash the cyclowiz because at the time it is the best (commercial) chip for the wii. However, the wiikey dosen't really have anything that is needed to be fixed other than a few gamecube games rather than the cyclowiz which had a read speed issue so yeah. It kindof is okay for them to promice an update and give it to us a month later. Its not really needed imo.

I didn't pay $40 plus shipping to get a half-assed working chip. I never had a gamecube...but now I'm having the pleasure of being able to get to see what it was all about. It's fun really. Double Dash is great! But It pisses me off every time I try to play superstar baseball and it freezes on me. An update is crucial because I don't want to feel jipped out when I could have bought a clone or an open source chip for much less money that does even more than my commercial chip.
When do you guys think they'll have the update? This week?

Wouldn't this audiofix also allow Naruto Gekitou Ninja Taisen EX (a Wii game) to work? I would think that's important enough...

Yeah isn't that ironic.
The wii-key makers are so full of it. BEFORE it was, the update is taking longer because we are trying to combat clones. Yet they take the time to release another boot disk instead of addressing known issues with the mod.
In between, no time frames or anything about an update.. It took them OVER 2 months to get to the point that they now claim "soon"
Now it's we are not out to get clones at all with our update, and the update is coming soon.
The Cyclowiz/Team Cyclops was by far less sketchy then the wiikey and maker.

Obviously you failed to mention and I will point out; that the Wiz was out before the WiiKey. You cannot compare the initial Wiz release with the WiiKey because they listed two different feature sets.
The update was to correct the drive speed trouble with a few games; no doubt. But the update also was to release new features to be competitive and get up to speed with the newer chips coming to the market (like the WiiKey). So basically you are trying to compare apples to oranges.
CycloWiz prior to update (upon release):
-Needed drive speed fix (which ultimately corrected all other issues with compatibility and game glitches.) If anyone is going to knock the chip for being incompatible with 2 or 3 games at that time, then they just need to get their cheap pirating a*s out to a game store and buy it :)
WiiKey (upon release):
-Needs audio fix (which they list as a feature; but isn't the case. Heck, they are still listing it as a feature today, even though they know it doesn't.).
Looking at this, I don't see where your "pales in comparison" logic comes in. What TC promised, they delivered. As for the latter, still waiting. You cannot compare the chips launch feature sets; they were both different.
BTW ... can you please elaborate what all the "various problems before the update" were? I can only think of one little problem. I say little too because that is what is was, a small problem. There was no need for the amount of havoc people cause over this issue and the bashin' the chip received because of it. All people needed to do was play their original until the fix was releases. ... but oh.. thats right, they didn't have an original. They bitched and moaned because they couldn't play there pirated game they got from a BitTorrent site or usenet.
Then, when the WiiKey was announce with a bigger feature set, everyone jump on the bandwagon ... of this is better, get this, Wiz sucks. All the Wiz needed was an update with new features and it was back on top.
Which goes to say, the Wiinja and CycloWiz (first two chips) are still the best on the market.

You seem to have a lot of animosity toward someone who wants to do something the chip is advertised as being able to do. Why is that?

Ah, here you're going off on another tangent. The mod in question was not badmouthing the wiikey, that's you projecting. He was merely pointing out the hypocrisy displayed by many people when bashing Team Cyclops but giving the Wiikey team a free pass. He said absolutely nothing about the quality of the chip, nor the competency of the team.
