I have a question about the following:

Im about too buy a new television and now and noticed that i can buy a pal/ntsc/secam television
or a pal/secam television.
does a Television need the NTSC option too play japanese or american games or does this have nothing to do with it ?

Try to stick with your region.

Other things may not work if you get a tv that doesn't match your own.

Subenu - I didn't know they still made TV's that weren't capable of displaying an NTSC signal. Make sure your new set does support NTSC otherwise you will have trouble playing imports.

Actually nowadays with HDTV, PAL and NTSC colour/signal differences are pretty much a thing of the past.
