Just had my wii modded(after 3 weeks finally) with a wiikey, but it dosen't seem to work :( it works with original games, but it gives me the error "unable to read disc" when i put a backup or even the config disc.
I don't think the problem it's related with the instalation of the modchip, because it look's good, although it's all covered with glue(i guess it's glue,it was used to "fix" the modchip in the wii) and that dosen't affect any connections. Also,i'm using verbatim as media,so the problem isn't there too.
Anyone knows what the problem is?
(sorry for my bad english)

use a better quality DVD and burn at 8x. I found some RiTek disc's and they solved all my problems :)

Ok,i've tried with sony, verbatim, tdk, mitsai and memorex and none of them worked :( guess the problem isn't the media(i've tried 2x and 8x)

Get a multimeter and check your soldering. Sounds like a bad install to me. I have a Wiikey and every single burned DVD I have works fine. I generally burn at 4x and don't have anything else running when its burning. In my experience the Wii DVD is much less picky than the GC DVD Drive - I have been able to run gamecube backups that absolutely did not work on the GC.

Could you explain how do i do that?i'm a little noob at these things...also,if i don't get the correct values, does that mean that it is a bad install,or it could also mean that the chip isn't working?

I suppose it is the wiikey installation problem.
You have to open your wii and ask an expert to check the installation or re-install your wiikey.

first do this: burn the setup disk and change your drive speed to 3x.
My initial install worked with gc backups but refused when I tried a wii one. I used the 1.2 setup disc to change my drive speed and I didn't have to panic and reopen my poor violated wii.
Better media is a good idea but mine refused with 3 types of great media untill the 3x was set.

Sounds like maybe one of the wires inside may have come loose

Well,i've burned the config disk in 5 types of media, and the wii refused to read then,so i guess it's a bad install :(
I'm going to the store that installed it,so that they can(if possible) take the chip out and ask another store to solder it,but this time with wires.Until then, could someone explain how can i check with a multimeter if the chip is installed correctly?
