i finished the simple programmer a couple days ago and just got my chips yesterday. I have two leds installed, 1 for power, 1 for programming. I used the IRF510. I cannot get this thing to work for nothing. I am sure that everything is built correctly. The power led lights up but the programming led won't and when i try to read chip in icprog i get all 0000's. PicProg4u doesn't detect programmer. If i try to program the wiifree hex to the chip, i get a warning "no oscillator calibration value found" and clicking yes or no to "do you want to use value from file 3FFFh instead" results in programming that ends with a failed verify at 000h! . I've read around for 2 days but can't figure it out. I replaced the transistor today thinking that could be the problems but same exact results. I used my multimeter and put black on pic pin 8 and red on pin 4 and nothing, 1 and 4 nothing. The only readings i get on anything are 5v on the red usb wire and 10v on the 1 pin of the 9 pin connector but nothing is even run to that pin. I am completely frustrated with trying to figure this out, i don't know what else to do. I also tried on my other desktop pc but same results. Any help is appreciated. Thanks

hey mine does this as well, it will say n ooscal value found do i want to change but always click no then at the end it will say verification failed but it dosnt matter the chip still works so i just ignore those messages it sounds like your programer works fine

I hope you are right, i'm still waiting on my triwing to get here so i will go ahead and do the install and hope it works, but i'm a little baffled as to why i can't read the chip or anything and my programming led don't light up. I'm not convinced that it works. Is yours homemade and do you get all 0000's when you try to read?

If mem serves me correct from when I built mine, red should be on 1 and black on 8.
I's suggest you go over the schematics. Have you go a mos fet between your live and centre leg going to pin 4?
As I say, I'm going from mem so theres a chance I'm completely wrong

Do you have a schematic of the one you used? Is it similar to the one in This post (http://psx-scene.com/forums/wiifree/53817-those-who-keep-asking-complete-no-frills-100-parts-list.html) on WiiNewz?
If you are using the same schematic with the LEDs like I was using, you might want to recheck your MOSFET connections. The Drain, Source, and Gate have different positions on the IRF510.
Check the LEDs too, to make sure that the cathode and anode is in the correct position.
I'm still waiting for my PIC samples to come from Microchip, so I'll report back as soon as I get them. I'm kinda wondering if my programmer will work now...
