My V.4 Messiah 2 Pro PS2 has suddenly stopped trying to read disks of any kind. One night, I was played THUG on a G04 Ritek backup perfectly happily, I turn it off, then I try to play it again the next night, and I put in the disk and wait, and wait, and wait etc etc, but the disk doesn't load, so I try another backup, then an original, then an xbox demo disk. Still nothing.

I've since opened the case, taken off the DVD drive lid and taken a look at it with/without a disk in the drive to see what happens. The spindle in the middle comes up after the drive has closed, spins for 1 second or 2 (and at the same time the laser comes on for half a second), then they both stop. Very occasionally (1 in 20), the drive acts as if it's trying to read the disk by spinning it and with the laser on [with the drive lid off], which it does for about 10 seconds, but nothing happens afterwards i.e. it doesn't load the disk. Nothing seems loose or anything. Have you had/heard of this problem? Any guesses? If not, would anybody else know? Thanks for your help

Clean the laser and do a small adjust. You can find guides for this in the Xteam Mods forums at www.XteamMods.com.

If you are still getting a spin then a laser adjust may be the issue. If no spin whenb the disk is in the drive is dead.

You can also check to see if any connections to the chip have come "loose" or have a bad connection.

The new Messiah's are problematic, and I don't personally trust them any more.

The best, DMS3 by far.

Well, I had already adjusted the laser before this happened. I'm gonna give it a clean to see if that makes any difference. Thanks

Looks like my drive/laser is on its last legs. Im desperate, so im gonna adjust the pot calibration thingy. I can't believe it has gone from hero to zero in one day, without even being used!

Don't do the POT adjust. Thats bunk.

Do the Laser azermith adjustment and a cleaning.

The pot will make no differance if the angle is bad.

I've already done the white cog (laser azimuth) adjustment! I need to go one step further now. I've also given it a clean, but that didn't work

Yes not the clog. Thesre is another adjust. The cog is not other issues.

v4 lasers are one of the best lasers out there, i'm sure you can revive this laser again to work well.
