That's odd, I've been using Nero 7 and have not had any major issues with it at all. If I'm not mistaken, some people are recommending CloneCD as another option, but Nero Burning Rom is working wonders for me.

Nero 7 works just fine for me in Vista!

The Wii is extremely picky over media quality, as I found out yesterday. Check the type of media you are using. Many people recommend Verbatim and Taiyo Yuden DVD-R's. I've had success personally with Fujifilm 8x dvd-r's But complete and temperamental failure with Imation brand DVD+R's

Good Luck!

I use only Verbatims and I burn everything with IMG Burn. It's totally free, and I've never had a DRE with it EVER! After burning a few coasters with Nero 7, I was very pleased with the results from img burn. Give it a shot, only thing you've got to lose is a couple megs of hard drive space. ;)

I just built a new computer and a version of Nero Express came with my package. For some reason, My 4.7 gig verbatim discs, when used in Nero, are formatted by Nero and actually fall 240 kb short of a Wii file. I didn't know how to fix that so I have been using Imageburn.

Imageburn is great. It's a very simply design. You can choose the write speed and all other basic functions. It has an easy interface and a whole lot less hoopla.

Analysis:

Nero is a better program with much more options

Imageburn I believe is slightly easier to use because of its simplicity.(ALSO free)

Ive been using imageburn because thats what works for me. You do have options. If you're basically using this for wii backups, use Imageburn. Its simple. As for DREs, might be a media thing. I've used 3 brands of DVDs :

Memorex (forget the specs) - works perfectly
Verbatim (16X 4.7, DVD-R_) - works perfectly except for Wario(burned at 4x)
and Maxwell(does not work)

PS - If anyone could tell me how I can set up my Nero so it dosn't format my discs so It dosn't shrink its size, PLEASE TELL ME. It is quite weird actually...and it sucks that its only 240 kb short too.

First, make sure that the file you're trying to burn doesn't need patched. Assuming it is the correct size, just try right clicking on the file and select "Open With" and select Nero. Nero Burning ROM will most likely open up for you with all the specs of the disk already populated. At this point, you should be able to just hit the Burn button and everything run through fine. This is how I've burn just about every game I've got. I don't know exactly what process you're using to open the .iso in Nero for burning, but try it that way and let us know what you get.

When I get home from work tonight, I'll try to remember to go to my computer and get screen shots of all the settings pages and post them up here for you. Maybe you can find a difference between my screens and yours.

I prefer IMGBurn, extremely easy and never had a error. Nero 7 only seems to work most of the time for me.

Yes, I highly recommend ImgBurn as well. It's freeware and I have no problem with all the 10+ disks burned by ImgBurn.

I just started using imgburn, is it a clone of dvd decrypter? Was it made by the same ppl or was it stolen? Just curious as its pretty obvious its almost the same program.

I really couldn't say. I've been using DVD Decrypter longer, but nero seems to be the best for wii games. I've been using dirt cheap media (15$ for a 50pk) with a wiikey, and at 6x nero burns everything fine.

I've yet to encounter a DRE, and these are seriously cheap discs. It isn't even a name brand. Something called promedia. I'd stick with nero, just try lowering the write speed. At first I got two bad burns at 4x and 8x, try 6x or maybe even 12x (not as a first resort though).

DVD Decrypter and Imgburn use the exact same source code, just Imgburn is being updated now and the support for decrypter has stopped

I've got a pioneer burner, used verbatim dvd+r and Sony DVD-R, used CloneCD, have not had a single coaster yet out of 14 or so. :)
