Game cube games on modded Wii

I've just fitted a WiiD mod chip to my pal wii but when I insert a game cube backups (resident evil pal) I see that it identifies the game cube game but one I click start it tells me that it cannot find a game cube memory storage device and doesn't go any further do I need a game cube memory card and control to play game cube games on a wii ??? wii backups work without any problem.

Another case of RTFM.

It says in the manual that you at least need 1 gamecube controller to play gamecube games and that you may need a gamecube memorycard for certain games.

So yes, you need a controller and memory card.

A little off topic but I cant seem to get any ntsc gamecube back-up games working on my pal wii.

Is there a patcher to be used, like regionfrii?

Do you need a special drive to dump gamecube games?
