Mario Party MIA?

I was just at my local EB Games picking up Super Paper Mario and an employee asked me if I wanted to pre-order Mario Pary 8. I realized that I've heard next to nothing about it and it's supposedly coming out at the end of May. Is it going to be good, and if so, why the lack of buzz?

Good question Aaron. The answer is, of course, that Nintendo is amazingly tight-lipped. The company wouldn't want people to know what's coming out, or if they should buy it. Nintendo's ways are as mysterious as the old coyote, so when you don't see new info, it's because the company has none to give.

On our side, Nintendo has supplied us with Wii readers (modded Wii systems that can play burned games) that we can use to get early builds of games. For actual Nintendo titles though, the company sends a crazy lock-box unit similar to a mini armored car with the game encased inside the system. Word on the street is we should be getting either Pokemon Battle Revolution and/or Mario Party some time soon, but as I said, old coyote. Rest assured though; once we get our copy in, we'll have plenty to talk about. Until then, it's anyone's guess as to when Ninty will speak out on it.

Sony and Microsoft also have machines that can play burned discs they let developers use them

Theres no commercial mod chip inside them just different hardware

I really wonder to be honest. Ive seen those dev kits and such but the way they say "modded wii" is curious.

Which makes more sense to the casual reader? "Modded console" or "Development kit"

why is this always a new thing when a new system comes out? review sites and magazines receive devkit systems which play unsigned, burned games that way they can get early builds and review copies of games.

They aren't dev kits, dev kits are used by developers to program the games on and they are close or identical to the final hardware of the system. What you guys are talking about is a debug kit. Basically what happens is a dev first designs, makes, then burns the game with the dev kit but it is encrypted with a debug key not a final retail key. The dev then takes the burned game and puts it in the debug unit to play test the game. These games will only run on debug hardware unless otherwise modified with a chip or some other means. Debug hardware is sometimes identical looking to final, sometimes its a little different. I believe the wii debug kit is the same looking as the final wii except its green. The 360 debug kit is black with a big thing up where the hard drive is. The original xbox debug kit was a clear orange. Anyway, just wan't to clarify.
