MC had a NEWS story yesterday about one of their sponsers selling Wiikey Clone for 8 dollars, my question is, is their any reports of these clones not working?
I'm looking for user experience about if others had problems with the wiikey clones that divinco is selling for 8 dollars?

Maybe, if they ever release an update that is.

I ordered one because it was so cheap. I was gonna make my own wii free, but I would've spent about the same amount on all the parts I would need!:D
Anyway, if this clone is a 1:1 copy, then how could the wiikey updates not work?

Anyone can say 1:1 copy. Wiikey might find a *slight difference and exploit that to their advantage?

Thats a very good point. Thats probably the reason that they havent released a update yet. To secure there own product by finding that difference and making the "clone" unusable when the new update is applied
But thats just my guess..
Peace out..

If they are "TRUE" 1:1 copies then there aren't going to be any differences to "exploit" as you say. Its just like the actual wiikey chip in which there are different batches made which may not use the EXACT same material. Hence a clone is nothing more than a new "batch" by example. So if its REALLY 1:1 there won't be any differences
Now if the CODE itself on the clones are different then they can just use a checksum or hash table to determine if the numbers add up on the original vs clones. It would be a simple fix to do given the source code.
As for whether or not to BUY a clone. If you want the real deal by all means get it but if you don't really play gamecube games and just want wii support then who cares.. Get a clone

everyone gotta chill and wait for wiikey update before making any stupid decisions. I highly doubt that clones have different hex codes or checksum. probably the same. but you never know.
With nintendo europe threatening everyone with usage of modchip. The best choice you can make here is to install a switch on your wiikey, or take it outside and install it as dongle. Or SIMPLY go with Wiifree/wiinja and install a socket.

This "we hate clones and will make an update that will make them blow up in a mushroom cloud of smoke" stupidity is probably only a way for them to disappear from the radar and not release anything. Stalling at its best.
Clones appear to work and do exactly the same as the original. So for $30+ less of what i paid a lot of people are getting the exact same product. I should have waited a bit hehe
yea i orderd one the other day i opend up my wii now i just gotta get a new sodgun

All current modchips do is allow playing of backups, and if a clone does that its worth the $8.
Be-it 100% clone or not will not be know untill wiikey announce some news, but expect if when they produce update even if you have legit chip and fails they will claim you have a clone.

Ease of modding is going to help nintendo win this generation. For 8 dollars it is just so accessible.
