There is only 1 actual commercial rom available, and that is the metroid demo. There is a rom for supermario 64 but its fake. AFAIK, none of the methods using passme work yet, but the neoflash may. The homebrew games will work with any of the known methods.

Well there are vids of it working, I would love to see some serious info about this. Anyone have any links where I can get info about getting commercial roms to work with any of the combos?

there is actually 3 game rips on the web. Metroid Prime Demo, Super Mario 64, and the Polarium demo.

Full list, of games and the rippers here:
http://www.64scener.com/ds/ds-scene.xml'

None of the ones on that list are fake.

Hey guys! great news. You can now boot commercial games over a wireless card.

check it out here:

Ya, but you need to modify the firmware. I want a hard solution like the passme method. I just need more info about it.

PS Anyone know of any good newsgroups for ds stuff?

I've been going here (http://forum.gbadev.org/index.php) a lot. I know, it's a gba forum, but they have a ton of ds stuff -- about 500 or so threads now on development.

I didn't see anything there showing how to play Super Mario 64 DS or the Metroid Hunters demo. I've not seen anything anywhere about running real commercial games, or dumping images.

simple answer, you cant.
the demos polarium and meteos run becasue they are small and load into the ds ram.
big roms like metroid and mario wouldnt fit. they would need to be constantly streamed whilst playing.

NeoFlash actually, does run games now. Supposively the already hacked DS Rom releases will run with the passme or firmwire hack if you flash the rom to a gba flash cart.

Do you have a link to where you found this out?

no your wrong, they will not work.
the games are patched to run specificly from the neoflash/xg cart, and will not work with any other carts
believe me i have i tried every combination possible.

yes, when you flash a commercial game with neoflash, it is automatically patched so it will work

no, they do work on neoflash yes, but im talking about wifi.
and actually, neoflash doesnt patch the roms.
the roms are pre patched by goldensun team to work on the neoflash.
try the darkfader metroid or mario roms and then put them on neoflash, they wont work because they havent been patched to work on neoflash.
neoflash doesnt do anything other than being able to flash files with .nds extension.
but the files can be convered to .nds.gba to be flashed to any cart, but they wont work as they will need patching

Will the goldensun roms not work if you add a loader to make it start as a ds.gba file - as far as I can tell that is what the neoflash does before it flashes a DS rom (ie copy loader.bin+rom.nds > rom.ds.gba ) - provided you have a passme and a compatible cart with appropriate save space?

Not sure what the differences are between the neo's key and a passme though...

the reason they wont work with another cart is because they are prepatched to work only on the neoflash
as for the magic key there is NO difference, its just a passme in a plastic case
a normal passme as been tested with the neoflash and works fine, an xg cart has been tested with the passme and that loads roms fine too.
so you see, the roms are patched to work only on neoflash carts, but as the neoflash cart is just a rebranded xg cart they work the same way.

this i can vouche for because i bought a xg card and flashed my ds with the wifi technique and have had no problems.

So now the only question that remains is when will a universal patch be made so that all flash carts will work. Hopefully soon.

From what I understand (now), the GS (golden sun) roms were not patched to work only with the neoflash, they were patched to load the "assets"(sound, vid, streams, graphx etc) from the GBA cart location instead of the DS cart location (darkfaders dumps were missing the 'encrypted on the fly' data that is present in the GS roms as well as not being patched to load off of the gba cart locations), for whatever reason the addresses that they are patched to run from are relocated properly only on the XG2 carts (ie neoflash), perhaps with some kind of 'on the fly' addressing, especially since the neoflash is likely to allow for multiple roms on a cart and across more than one 256K bank...without being able to extract the nintendo file system it all looks like encrypted garbage even with something good to compare to...

wonder if GS is not in neoflash/xg's pocket, kinda like toxic and dms style....

I honestly doubt there will be any 'universal' patch, just proper loaders done by other cart companies, if and when they feel like doing it. (of course, I hope I'm wrong and am trying to figure out what has been done to see if passme and any cart can be fixed to it - much simpler than trying to figure out GC DOL compression  )
