360 spring update released. More games are backward compatible

Microsoft has released the new BC Spring update but it is not yet available on Live. The only way to get it now is to download from Microsoft's site and burn to a disc. The following games are now backwards compatible with the 360:

The executable file is encrypted and signed by microsoft. The fact that the xbox will read a regular CD doesnt help at all.. It's basically the same thing as the xbox reading an Audio CD. If your executable doesn't have the "boot from regular media" bit (Which is encrypted and signed), then it's not gonna boot off regular media. No game (Except the Kiosk disc) had that bit set.

i wonder because, if you download and burn to cd. then install the update from that disk.
how hard would it actually be for the installer to ask the drive what type of disk is in the drive, and if it reports back an official 360 disk (therefore flashed firmware), then send your machine id back to microsoft.


bare in mind though, i have absolutely know technical knowledge about how these things work, and all this is completely hypothetical. i just ask as why would they not just put it on live???

not for nothing, holmes, but until kl0wn clarified, i thought this was the spring update that will allow messaging and other dashboard functionality . maxconsole has heavily been reporting on it .

BC updates have never been fixed to a certain season like the Dashboard update. The fact is that you screwed up. How old are you by the way?

Now I beleive you are being paid to be a news poster, and your wages would be paid by the revenue from the site generated by users like us clicking on links and ordering things. That makes us the customer. I have worked in customer service for a few years and I dont beleive the phrase "Now stop talking **** or I'll rip you a new one. What an idiot!:mad: If you can't read, I can't really help you there now Can I?" is in any customer service manuals I have seen. If I spoke to a customer like that I would expect to be fired

dude,seriously, im sooooo on that as well. i played the hell out of SF3rd strike on my dreamcast. so now u r telling me that the SFAC works online!!! i've been dying to play this game onlie. i never bothered with xbox1 live. question tho. how is the xbox version? the DC one was arcade perfect,so is xbox1 perfect as well? only thing that will suck is the damn 360 controller!! its freakin horrible for 2D fighters. i wish they make a 6 button pad fighter pad for the 360. or i wish some 3rd party company makes a controller converter to use ps2 pads. i have the 15th anniversary 6button capcom ken controller in the box, i would love to use that on the 360!!:D

Well it takes a man to apologise and admit their wrong so a pat on the back there. Most people here are not looking for "first hit news" as I doubt many people are sitting all day hitting refresh. Also as all the news is posted on loads of different sites and linked from here you are hardly likely to get the news on here first lol. I would imagine most people are like me, click a couple of times a day and see whats new here to save having to trawl around all the other sites, but when they look on here they expect to see news items posted once only and them to be accurate. For example there is a BIG difference between a BC update and the spring update, as you now know one is not the other lol.

I think in some ways people had got used to the few postings a day from Zeus but knowing they are accurate and like me find it fustrating when items are wrong, linked to wrong forum post, pictures not displaying because of photobuckets bandwidth being exceeded or links dont work at all. A small tip, cut down on the speed and go for accuracy first, there will be less negative comments on here then. That is not aimed just at you but all new editors

I doubt Maxconsole ever has anything "first"...since 99% of the time, it's just linking to other sites. Maxconsole is a convenient aggregator, with a discussion community. I'm not saying that gives you license to be all slow, but I don't think you need to rush so bad that you can't spend an extra 5-10 minutes making sure your details are correct.

Also, I wouldn't take anything personally if people complain about the stories you post. I can't imagine most people even take notice of the names of the news posters...unless of course there is a problem. Sad to say, but you have a thankless job where you will get no credit for a job well done, and you will get hell for every mistake. Your compensation is your paycheck, not goodwill. I don't mean that to be depressing, I mean heck, how cool is it to get paid for doing research on stuff you enjoy?

Correct your mistakes without complaining, and nobody will even remember the mistakes.

Update done, I put in my JSRF disc (it's the dual Sega GT/JSRF one), and no go.

I know! I am really hoping the Black Wireless controller has the D-Pad of the Wireless Racing Wheel, which ironicly has a better D-Pad. I usually play with the Analog with even 2D games, but fighting games that are 2D has to be on the D-Pad.

3rd strike online is a different experience. you have to get used to the lag sometimes it can be bad. high level play such as parrying might vary depending on the lag and may get frustrating. the dc and xbox1 are close versions so you'll have no problems at all. it is still a little bit different in arcades but it's stuff that is extremely technical with urien and probably other people.

i've only had my 360 for less than a week and have not tried fighters on it yet. what i can say is xbox1 d-pad is AMAZING i use it all the time and it rarely misses on huge strings. if the 360 controller has the same feel then it's all good. the triggers on top i'm not too hot about for sure but it's workable so whatever.

i'm actually more excited having UMK3 online. i loved that game.

Ok, so why does Sega GT 2002 from the disc work then?

At least the NTSC version does. From the PAL disc (which I have), neither game works. The standalone JSRF doesn't work here in PAL-land either.

I've seen reports that Panzer Dragoon Orta (PAL) may not be working after the update either.

I just cleared the 3rd episode on panzer dragoon, watched the cut scene and it said "The original xbox game has encountered a problem" and chucked me to the xbox live menu :(
