The life of a gangsta rapper. Snoop Dogg it seems, almost walked out of a charity concert because organisers failed to provide him with an Xbox games console to keep him entertained. The rapper was due to perform at Cipriani Wall Street's UNICEF event on Tuesday night, alongside the Pussycat Dolls.
Despite receiving a reported $150,000 fee to appear, Snoop demanded his 10-strong entourage were flown to New York first-class and wanted extra perks. It is claimed the controversial star then threatened to pull out because the games console wasn't in his dressing room. An insider told the New York Post newspaper: "He insisted on having an Xbox in his dressing room. We finally found someone who lent us their kids' Xbox." Even though organisers caved to his demands, Snoop was reportedly an hour late on stage because he and his friends were enjoying a lengthy gaming session.

Now, I've heard of gangsta rappers high demands for performance fees, but this is a first.

“Stars” always do this kind of crap. They demand outrageous, off the wall things to be placed in their dressing rooms. Some want like five big ass bowls of Skittles, but only one color per bowl…or all colors except for yellow. Some demand games consoles and a specific model of TV to play it on. It’s in the contract. They get all bent out of shape because the other person didn’t comply with the contract. They really don’t give a crap about that missing yellow Skittle. They just want it done because it’s in the contract. Now, the fact that they put dumb ass **** like that in the contract shows how petty they are and how big their heads have gotten. :cool:

The contract that everyone is talking about is called a rider. Pretty much everyone who is anyone has one. It spells out what has to be provided for the person or anyone that is associated with the person. It can range from 6 bottles of water at a certain temp to certain color curtains in their room.
Yeah it's stupid but places put up with it and so the trend continues.

What really bothers me is that this is a charity. I wonder how much more money would have been available if the people performing in the event wasn't being flown in first class (which I'm sure everyone there traveled first class, not just snoop dogg). If they wasn't shelling out 150k for him to show his face (which again I'm sure everyone else was paid also). You would think that either the performer would actually do some charity work (no charge and pay their own way) or the event managers wouldn't cave in to high charges.

Also it seems that he wasn't supposed to / didn't keep the Xbox. He just wanted it there to play.

I'm actually quite disappointed in Snoop, I'm a fan of he's music and for him to do something this is a shame. It gaves everyone a chance to say this that and the other about rap music, even though it's just he's actions.

From what I've heard though this seems to happy a lot in the music industry and with actors and stuff too, I actually wonder if there's been any situations involving charities apart from thsi one though.
