It seems as if some people are having trouble downloading the new maps available for Halo 2. Apparently Microsoft will only take the charge of $4 dollars from your credit card, and does not accept 360 points for the purchase. If you do not have a credit card associated with the account, the purchase will not happen.
Instructions from Microsoft:
1. In the Xbox Dashboard, select the profile that you want to modify, and then select Account Management.
2. Select Memberships.
3. Select the membership that you want to update.
4. Select Change Payment Options.
5. Select Add Credit Card.
6. Enter the credit card information for the card that you want to add. This can also be a debit or Visa (or similar) gift card, however, some restrictions may apply.

Buying maps for a game originally made for the xbox that can only be boughten exclusively on a 360 using a credit card when you went out and bought market points for the very same buying decisions......makes sense!

yea it does considering you can only download them using the Halo 2 interface...

Gee, maybe because it's not an Xbox360 game, it's an XBOX game. They've got to make it available for people to download who are still running it on an original Xbox, (of which there's no doubt plenty).
At least you know how much you're paying rather than buying them with vague "points".

Thanks for the short tutorial. I had already figured it out, but i bet it will help others. I had a credit card set up on my XBL account, but it wasn't set as my payment method for Xbox Live subscription. Once I got that set, it worked.

No, no...it's only available for gamers playing Halo 2 on their Xbox 360. ;) Not on the O.G. Xbox.

Thats actually pretty good. Because it's harder to waste money for something that should be free then ;)

yeah but be warned.....once MS has your number on file they keep it on file and will not remove it (it's part of the agreement you agree to).
They've been know to just charge things to your card without your approval and then you have to phone them and jump through hoops to reverse it.
My friend had to cancel his credit card because MS wouldn't stop charging things to it (like live subscriptions) and even though he phoned and asked them to stop. They told him his number would always be on file in case MS ever needed to use it.

Not sure I see the issue here. I suppose it's potentially slightly inconvenient. It kind of wrecks the whole payment consistency thing, but I can't imagine it destroying anyone's evening.. Maybe if it was a kid without a CC# but a crap-ton of points on his account...who would probably be utterly perplexed why something as innocuous as Halo2 maps would require him to get some extra help from his parents.
But he could at least still download the Colbert report!

I don't get what your saying? these are 2 new maps never seen before in halo 2... not the multiplayer maps released over a year or 2 ago.

And how would one go about doing that?

This is the dumbest article and discussion I have seen in a while. Halo 2 was designed for XBOX not XBOX360. They didn't have MS points then, you bought the maps with a credit card or an expansion disk. It has always been this way with the original XBOX. If you want to add a year of gold membership same thing it doesn't accept points. Get over it Sony fanboys!!
BTW what method of payment do you use for Sony online store? Certainly you use a credit card. Is this an issue?

I wonder how Valve and Epic can afford to give out maps for free, yet MS always has to charge for them. Either MS is in financial trouble or they just don't like to show their appreciation to their fans for making their game a smash hit.

MS is in financial trouble... never lol they just want more profit... it really does annoy me how you carnt get a few extra levels for free on xbox but yet for pc games there's whole websides dedicated to map downloads.

from what I figured, since xbox1 live accounts have to be attched with a card so you can buy stuff, if you use a 360 account without any card on what so ever a freshly made silver account worked, its glitched to think it has a card on, and all you have to do is attempt to download the maps 2 times, first time it registers the maps are purchased and 2nd time will download, i found this out by complete accident, but support bungie and buy the maps
