Rod Fergusson bashes Resistance: Fall of Man

Rod Fergusson, producer of Gears of War, had some interesting bits of information about Gears of War in a recent interview. Apparently Gears will see comic books that flesh out the story further, though not much information was discussed about the possible movie tie-in. Rod also had an interesting bit to say about "Mr. Insomniac", calling co-op in Resistance an add-on afterthought.


In a copy-catish kind of tone read the following quote right out of Rod's mouth, Mr. Insomniac (being Impersonated by Rod): 'oh and the icing on the cake for us is co-op'. They had the splitscreen co-op as sort of their add-on and it was 'you're lucky we kind of threw this on'.

so now hes talkin sh*t. yeah buddy,we all know gears is better than resistance in its own way.they are 2 different types of shooters. resistance has much better weapons than gears.Gears is THE game to beat. lets just see how well the awesome looking Ratchet&clank:fight the future fares out. i for one,cant wait for that game. we all know it will be awesome,as every other R&C game has been on ps2 and even the psp R&C was awesome!! id like to see him talk sh*t on that game. Insomniac isnt to be f*cked with!!:D

i'll take RFOM 40 player lag free online play over GOW 8 player max offering. Anyway to be fair FROM online is more like the old quake days and is a full on frag feast which makes its so enjoyable compared to the more taticle GOW until Halo3, luckily i own both systems so comments made by these people mean diddly squat in the end

Since when can "icing on the cake" NOT be a quick add-on? I've put icing on cakes at the last minute. It's easy to do, doesn't technically add a whole lot...but it makes the cake a lot better.

Either way, that comment was not very professional. He's not even competing against Resistance. Since when is it good form to take pot-shots at various people? That said, the Insomniac PR guy sounded pretty elitist when I read some quotes from him, so I'm not saying he's any better.

These guys should settle down, before they accidentally call someone a "nappy headed ho" or something.

he pointed out several games and how they wanted the coop to be solid 100% from the beginning... used resistance for the example of addon like halo which he also used as the addon clone example... also talk about tom clancy how you dont get the story scenes so its not 100% the full game they wanted to do....



he did not bash any of the games he referenced, he just used them as examples comparing how they wanted a great coop in gears and wanted the game built around it... which it is, and which the other games are not built around coop

never knew you could get 40 Players Online, now that sounds Brilliant & Lag free you say, How!!!! can it be...........:eek:

Quake 3 was my Fav years ago when that came out, so i am very Interested in RFOM now,Sadly i don't own a PS3 yet, but my Bro Played on this game & said it was Amazing, no slow down what so ever, Fantastic Graphics & Sound & Game Play, i myself owned GOW, but returned this Piece of Crap back to where it came from, thankfully it was from GAME, so got my money back within 10 days, the game is so repetitive,same old thing time after time after time, and GOD is it Bugged!!!
ICON's Pop up to Roll left or Right, when i want to jump over a wall, and go forwards, no Chance, i rolled around for 10-15 Secs trying to go Fowards, by the time i did go forwards, i had been SHOT dead, or worse still cut in two, by the chainsaw Gun, Only a few Different Weapons, BORING, give me QUAKE 3 anyday, and i would Kick Arse, Online on GOW, is the worse i have ever Played in my Life( I have been playing Games for 26+ Years), so why there are Thousands playing this Game is beyond me, most people online i noticed use the exact same tactic all the Time, place Mine on your back, once on there you are doomed NO MATTER WHAT YOU DO.....DOH, WHY is that allowed to happen, a team member should be able to defuse the Mine before it Blows up, and so saving your life, simple............Ruins the game for me Completely...........Bring on RFOM, it can't be any worse!!!!

If you have a PC you are better off with somthing like Battlefield (64 palyer matches are great) or Counterstrike (and get one of the best FPS out there HL2) as both GoW and RFOM are piss poor multiplayer in comparrison, well in my opinion anyway. I will say GoW has the edge personally both in single and multiplayer as 3rd person view works better with a pad. If you can't figure out that simple wall climb or roll thing then maybe you are better off with RFOM as it is a lot more simplistic at best. If you have to play somthing like that tho I'd personally go for Rainbow 6: Las vegas, it craps heavily on both of them in my opinion. Crank up the difficulty to max and along with a few mates, try to clear out a level. It's alot more fun as you have to play as a team, if you don't you get your arses handed you. Mind you if you can't manage to get to grips with GoW then this again may be too much. Go for Quake 4 and or Farcry instead (far cry has both the original console version and add-on together with beefed up GFX), or prey or fear for that matter.

Yeah but battlefield is not a quake type game, i think thats what he is looking for. Gears is good game dont get me wrong but just got tedious after awhile. I expect the future of this game to be bright, just like halo. I personally like the developer servers better than player hosted games, so i agree with king peppers on the lag part.

Play a standard PC FPS from yester-year. Maybe pretend the Gerrys in CoD2 are Aliens. Your not missing much. Tell your brother to get Motorstorm tho.
