Valve say that cross-platform support is already in place for Xbox 360-PC play for Team Fortress 2 and revealed it was feasible back in March.
"Technically it's done", the developer's Doug Lombardi told IGN of Xbox 360-PC play; Valve's Robin Walker then followed up to reassure that controller issues won't be, well, issues, explaining that staffers who worked on the Half-Life series on Xbox are working on TF2 on Xbox 360.
He went on to say though that with Team Fortress 2 on PS3, chances of cross-platform play are slim.
"The PS3 version is being done by EA over in the UK, and they don't have all the networking stuff in yet
Chances are the PS3 version will only play other PS3s. There's zero chance of them talking to 360s."

If the consoles really want to make it in the online gaming world then this is the kind of thing they really need to do. PC's are so perfect for online gaming because they don't care what brand, if any, PC you have, all games run the same regardless.
If Sony and Microsoft do indeed want to strengthen their online gaming, then cross platform multiplayer connectivity is a key ingredient. As they stand at the moment, it's games only work with Microsoft or with Sony. The annoying thing is that I'm pretty sure Sega pioneered the first crossplatform online gaming when Quake 3 was released for the Dreamcast. A while later, PC owners were able to download the Sega specific maps and then play against DC owners.
In an ideal world, I should be able to buy a multi-platform game for PC, Xbox or PS3 and then be able to play online against anyone regardless of whether they have a PC or console.
I know that Windows Vista has much closer ties to 360 and XboxLive for this very reason and it's a great step in the right direction. Here's hoping that this kind of thing blossoms in the future to become a truly borderless online community.

Indeed, but I do not understand why this would be in PC, this does reflect on the 360 more then the PC.
And to the people who say that Mouse and Keyboard are better, depends what game. Play Halo on Xbox and then on PC. People will eat you alive on Gamespy if they're using an Xbox/Xbox Controller.

i really just loled very hard. ill take on the pro players that use a controller and ill use a mouse and keyboard. When playing fps's mouse and keyboard will always win. You are much more accurate, much faster reaction time (much much much faster) and far easier to move around. Also just as a hint they implement autoaim into the halo games so imagine what a pc player will do lol.

I agree you can play faster, but when reacting the controller is a lot easier when it comes to games like TFC when you have to use the entire keyboard to play compared to a controller that fits in your hand and everything is closer. But if your theory works for you, don't let me knock it, but remember that Johnathan “Fatal1ty” Wendel won one of this UT World Tournaments by using a PC Gamepad. It varies from person to person, I can play a lot easier with a gamepad then a Keyboard and Mouse, and I've met a lot of people who are the same way, not only in Halo, but games CS (On PC), Half-Life, Opposing Force.
PS. Halo 1 never had an Autoaim function, which is why you can find patches for Halo 2's Autoaim but not Halo 1. And that's the game I talked about playing over Gamespy, well...obviously. Halo 2 isn't even out for the PC yet. lol
