Volume ID exposed by hacked AACS

Hackers from XboxHacker and Doom 9 forums have found the "Volume ID's" in HD-DVD discs played on the Xbox 360 HD-DVD addon. Any inserted disc will play without authenticating with AACS regardless of whether or not the Volume ID has been revoked by the AACS licensing authority. Add the released processing keys and any HD-DVD disc can be copied and played in any other player. This would render the new WinDVD update useless

Well, the least MaxConsole could do is link to a relevant article or thread discussion. I clicked the link to the doom9 forum (where other such developments have occurred) and found myself at the forum index. Some subsequent searching for an old thread that I remembered seems to indicate that the "volume key" development occurred in January.


Browsing from the Wii is difficult...but I checked out the news page on doom9 and there is no mention of such developments in the last few days.
