yea that would be pretty sick cuz that assasination was is crap hopefully this one be cool addkinda like a capture the flag to gears would be tight.

nothing great, but at least they added something other than a deathmatch rendition.

hopefully the bug fixes fix most annoyances like chainsaw glitching and some weapon balancing would be nice....

Movie just did remind me how beautiful gears of warr is,playing resistance of men now(just did get me a ps3 this weekend,europ)That game is fun but ugly compared to Gears of warr,also motorstorm dasn't look that great,and i have a 32 inch hd lcd so it can't be the tv,it are just tha games

I would like a update so you can play whit more then just 8 people.

I don't know. From what I see of GoW, most of its cool visuals are from shakey, "realistically hectic" camera movements, and various effects and splatters against the "lens" of the camera. There are definitely some weak textures, and if you put the game out on a sunny day with no wind, nice and clear.. and removed the camera shake...it would lose a lot of luster..

Mind you, I consider those things like camera shakes and stuff to be part of the artistry. I think it's great work...but "better graphics"? Hardly.

Gears of war rocks!! maybe you should try playing it.
It kinda urinates on all PS3 games from a gr8 height from gfx through to playability.

yeah bro it is your tv. step it up. i got a 50inch samsung 1080p and those games look awesome. especially motorstorm, you are bugging my friend.:D but NOW slap on gears of war and that game looks PHENOMINAL:eek:

Big deal? Don't think so, it's far from original. I'm sure it's a welcome addition though, any added gameplay features are. Doesn't deserve such 'newsworthy welcome" though, here or anywhere for that matter.

If gears of war rocks on 1080i why dasn't resistance in 720p(it dasn't go higer so i won't matter on your 1080p lcd),okay gears of war sometimes have some ugly texture's,but its just 1% in the whole game.
Resistance texture are crap all the game,just stand against a wall,or better zoom in whit a gun.Don't get me wrong, i like resistance, and its a bigger game whit more levels then Gears of war,but tha texture and grpiachs are worse.

Gears is has higher production values throughout. This is typical Epic handicraft. However, I think the fact it looks so darn good is more of a testament to Epic's skill as a developer rather than the 360's hardware. I mean, obviously the hardware is putting out.. It's not like the 360 is slacking.. but I just don't feel Resistance is the same calibre of game that's possible on the PS3..

They've each got their strengths, but in terms of "showcase", I think GoW easily crushes Resistance, and Resistance could have been a lot better on the PS3, in that regard...but obviously they were going for a slightly different type of game...a more traditional game.

Take texture size for example.. Everyone likes to berate the fact that the PS3 has 256 megs of dedicated video ram and dedicated system ram versus the unified total 512 megs that the 360 has.. If anything, that should give the PS3 plenty of room for textures..so it shouldn't have any issue dishing out the high quality textures.

360 OS takes 32MB
360 has 10MB extra for AA free

So right out of the bat ps3 developers have less than 83MB of memory vs 360 to use. Then the PS3 memory is divided into half so any extra memory on the cpu side can't be used for graphics or vice versa.

Not saying developers can't make things work, just look at the new Unreal, which should be awesome. But having that limit memory will hurt the PS3.

Back on topic this gears update looks cool, but Halo 3 "King of the Hill" is the real deal.

I just played 4 hours straight on Annexx and it is absolutely the best multi player mode for gears...

Re-spawning, Holding capture points and everyone plays as a team cause they are forced to.

I really love it. It is truly Chaotic and Fun. Try it guys you will think the same thing..

And they fixed ALL the glitches...no more annoying kids...

Wasn't that info about the PS3 system footprint from the ozzie blog? aka, a Microsoft blog? And iirc, he was pulling his data from some pretty dated sources.. I haven't seen any current info on how much memory the PS3 is taking up for stuff. And additionally, both consoles handle memory differently. I've read in the past that the PS2 was able to catch up pretty well with the Xbox graphically, partly because directX on the Xbox (and PC) is inefficient with its memory handling. That may be true.. It may be true in the opposite direction! But I suspect there are variables like that, that fanboys neglect all the time.. It's not just how much ram you have, but how you use it...and not only on the developer level, but on the system API level, too.

Well if we don't have accurate, current figures, we can't really discuss it and come up with a likewise accurate answer.

As for texture memory, are you referring to this Kotaku article?

I think that the path of communication from that dev's comment to the headline, to you is skewing reality. The developer just said there is more room for textures on the 360.. As we are all pretty darned certain of, the 360 has unified 512, and the ps3 has a hard split 256vid/256sys.. Textures will generally be stored in that 256 for the vid ram. They can be stored in system ram too, but it will be slower. So saying there is more room for textures is probably saying that he's using more than 256 of video memory for the graphics stuff. On the PS3, he'd hit a hard limit, and would have to code some kind of memory swapping routines that he apparently isn't up for doing.

Personally, I think the memory in the PS3 is stupid. They should have doubled what's in there. It would added maybe $20 to the manufactured cost? And would have given it a decisive graphical advantage.
