I am using Verbatim DVD-R 16x speed, burned on 8x speed, which work perfectly.

But, I wonder, which DVD+RW will work with the Wiikey ?

Any +RW will probably work, just set the book type to dvd-rom to be sure but it should work nevertheless.

I have a DVD+RW from Imation, and my friend had another DVD+RW. Both didn't work.
The programs I tried it with were ImageBurn and Nero Something. What's this about a booktype though? Could I have an explanation?

EDIT: I have found an option to change the booktype. I go to the tab for my drive type (NEC), and I change it to DVD+RW Media, but it says FAILED when I do that. Could someone explain all of this to me?

In imgburn, open up the program, put it in write mode and look at the bottom right part where the burn settings are. The bottom right icon (a....book) is the one for changing the booktype of the media. Click on it, select your burner and the proper setting you want. Not all burners have the same settings, though most of them do.

For example, with my lite-on drive i select lite-on and if i'd like to change the booktype of ALL +RW media burnt afterwards i'd select "Drive (For DVD+RW Media)" under the change for drop down list. After selecting, the program shows the current setting and then you can select the new setting (DVD-ROM). If you just want to change the booktype of the current media, select the appropiate option and the new setting (this only works for +RW media). When done, click change.

I'd like to add that the age of the RW, as well as the number of times it's been erased and rewritten will affect the ability of certain devices of reading it.

But I never get the chance to press the Change button, as it reads: FAILED! when I try and change it. Would you happen to know the cause of this?

Oh and I've just erased it once, and it's not that old.

EDIT: Somehow, I can change the settings for LITE-ON, but that's what I have, I have NEC. Would that still work?

EDIT2: Now I can't change the settings for LITE-ON. I'll make a picture of it and show what it does.

EDIT3: Picture. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v490/FreakingWesley/LikeWhatItIsOverHere.png
What I also notice is that it says the current profile is 'DVD+RW'. Doesn't this mean it's already on the correct setting?

Your burner is probably just a rebranded nec, meaning it's not really a nec. Having it as DVD+RW is incorrect, it should be set to DVD-ROM for compatibility reasons. Try all the burners in the list, one is bound to work. Other than that what i can advice you to do is search for a NEC Bitsetting/Booktype tool, there's probably one around somewhere. Either that or try to change the setting in Nero, but i don't really remember where that is done. I think you have to press the disk info button and from there you can change the booktype.

It could be possible I don't have a true NEC. It would explain why I could change the settings of LITE-ON. Thank you for your help, I think I'll manage now. :D

Woah, very quick reply
For some reason, it's saying Book Type: DVD+RW the whole time now, gah this is so confusing. I'll just try burning it again. But I can only see if it works later today. :( I'll post then if it does.

I may have found your problem. I believe the NEC 1300A does not have bitsetting support in its stock firmware.

Go to http://www.herrie.org/

He has firmwares available for your drive that give it bitsetting support.

Read the FAQ and readme files first if you don't know what you're doing and PLEASE, if you're gonna attempt this, make sure there's no disk in the drive when flashing.

Good luck!

Are you serious ><?! God this is annoying. Well I was getting DVD+R's later today, so I think I'll just leave it at this and not mess it up even further.
Now what's the booktype needed for DVD+R's? I think those won't burn either right now.

If i'm not mistaken, the default for +R's is DVD+R but they don't cause much problem that way.

Well I flashed it anyway, maybe it'll be of some user later. And it went perfectly.
Going to try burning again.

It's still not working. I changed the booktype with DVD Info Pro, and after that I burned it with Nero. The booktype was correct.
And now when I think about it, I've burned video files on DVD+RW's before and those worked.

Well unless someone knows why it's still not working, I'm going to get DVD+R's.
