Is it possible?
Say on Donkey Kong Country or Super Mario World on SNES
Or Sonic 3 on Genesis?

SAVE:
1. Save-in-Game
2. Save to GC-Memcard via SRAM-Manager in Emu-Menu
LOAD:
1. Load Game
2. Load Savegame via SRAM-Manager
3. Start Game

How do you get to the emu menu while in the middle of a game to save it?
And I assume this method just saves game states, not the original way the game was saved on a console? (i.e. battery to save at a save point in the game)

It keeps saying unable to mount memory card when I try this with any emulator, any reason why?

I think that you need to be using an official "Nintendo Memory Card" for it to work. Thats what I use in Slot A and it seems to work but wont work in Slot B where I have my "Max Drive Pro" card for launching the SNES dol. I am not really sure if you can save using the "Modded Wii" method though.

I did have the same problem then I ask here and they say Use an GC mem card.so I find my GC orginal Memcard.
and that work
SD gecko does not work.
Then to get the Emu menu wile in a game use the Yellow C button on the Gc controller.

Actually, I use after market Gamecube Memory cards with a Wiikey and the SNES, NES, GENESIS, TURBOGRAFX 16, MASTERSYSTEM emulators just fine. Specifically, I am using a NYKO 128MB card.
When I first put it in, I too was getting the "cannot mount" error. When I looked at the website forums for the emulator, it gave specific instructions on how to fix it, which are as follows.
If you get the "cannot mount" error in slot A, move your memory card to slot B and try to save to slot B. It will most likely save at this point. All you then need to do is move the card back to slot A and it will save fine in slot A as it should. Its some kinda initial bug in the code.
Thats it. Have fun, works great for me.:p

Its too bad SNESGX doesnt have built in game genie capabilities,I have to use UCON64 or just straight hex editing to use cheat codes. Seems like it wouldnt be very hard to implement into the program though..??

Sorry if this is off topic, does the classic controller work with the emulators?

I dont think so because emu is running is GC mode and WiiClassic works in WiiMode.
But in the future when Wii Homebrew is cracked then it maybe possible to port
snes, nes and Genesis emu to WiiHomebrew.

Do you have to be at a save point in a game that was meant to be saved, or can you save in any game, i.e. save the game state in a game that was never meant to be saved?

anything you save in the game is save in the sram manager.
so Yes you must have to be on save point in the game.
for saving.
Save in the game then go to Emu menu and save to sram.

Press the power button on the console.
Then you get the black screen and the console lights red.
then you push the power button on the WiiRemote
