I have one last suggestion for you. Put electrical(or some other) tape over the yellow and purple wires to ensure that they are not touching the heatsink(this is of course assuming that you have a REV A/B gamecube, and not a REV C).
Also, you are going to send this back to gamefreax for a refund right?

Not a refund just change the chip if i can.Mind you they are not answering e-mails or a phone call.I have put insolation tape over the yellow & purple wires still the sameso i dont know must be the chip i think it has something to do with the lid wires as if i wiggle them the light goes bright but it boots the orig bios even with everything connected.

It honestly sounds like something is not hooked up right. Have you double/triple checked your connections? Were you able to flash 1.2 bios onto the chip successfully?

Hi Crumpster
Yes i have double/trible/quadruple checked just done it again. All is right i dont understand it.I couldnt flash it as the cable was damaged when i got it.I am beginning to think that it was all damaged before i got it.I wish there was someone near me in the uk who could test it for me so i knew but as from now i give up..

Don't give up. Its prob the chip then. I am not familar with gamefreak.de but if they are not contacting you back then i would see what legal action could be took against them. If you were close to me i'd def take a look at it for you.

The wiring harness should be fine to leave alone, I'd try replacing the chip first. Then if that doesn't work, replace the wiring harness.
Btw, I ordered mine from foundmy.com and it worked perfect first try. so maybe foundmy.com has the good batch of chips. I remember hearing other people that ordered from gamefreak to have bad chips. Anyways, hope this helps.

some qoobs ship without a bios installed , perhaps u got one of those. Mine came with qoob 1.0 bios , if you havent flashed it yet , then my guess is you got an unbiosed chip , no wonder its booting the orig bios , ull needa get that ribbon fixed so u can add a bios

I had similar issues to Gamecube Nick, I got my qoob from gamefreax aswell by the way. I put some electrical tape on some of the wires that were close together (in case exposed wires were touching) and checked my soldering again and it booted up. Hang in there Gamecube Nick.
If you've already ordered a replacement chip I would not desolder the wires from this install, just hook up the new 1 and if you have the same issues its prob down to soldering or exposed wires touching.
Best of luck M8

Well i resoldiered all the points this morning & tryed again.Everything works but all i get is the orig gamecube bios. The led works on the chip the laser works & i can even boot up a orig disk & play with the chip installed. So i reckon its either got no bios,a curropt bios or the chip is dead.I also have no way of flashing it to try it as the fcc cable was damaged so if there is anybody who would like to flash it for me or try let me know cheers..

Thats a known issue that they dont answer phone calls they dont even have a customer number. Thats why I ordered at freakware they answered every email and phone call I made and are very friendly. If you havent ordered yet give them a chance they are very reliable and have fast shipping.

It seems my old time problem :o) You should check your white connector, the one that connects to the mod-chip, be sure it's properly fitted in the mod-chip' slot. It seems stupid but I had the same f****** problem and I fixed it in a matter of seconds simply by pushing harder to fit the plug into the mod-chip.
