NOOB here,

I'm having trouble with rawdump any version. I can dump gc games fine but every time I try to dump a wii game I get an error. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See the end of this message for details on invoking
just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.

My problems started with the same things you are getting. Then rawdump 2.0 would not even list either of my DVD drives in the drop down list. I uninstalled .net frameware 2.0 and reinstalled it that did not fix it. I downloaded all the .dll files that were listed in the error that you are getting and replaced them with the downloaded ones this still did NOT fix my issue. I then did a last resort effort. I put in my windows xp pro cd and started the process of reinstalling windows but i did not do a clean install i did not reformat. When you get to the second option to repair your windows installation i selected it and windows install it self over the prior installation(this is called a dirty installation). This fixed my problems.

Oh yeah when i first started using rawdump 2.0 everything worked then i started getting these errors. This fixed it for me so give it a try it may work or not. Good luck.

The disks that i am talking about are the opreating system(OS) disks some computers come with these others can be downloaded and used thats another story. You can find more info by if you just google Doing a dirty install on windows xp.

or go here and read up

hxxp://pcworld.about.com/magazine/2109p156id111652.htm

Replace xx with tt

If you have your opreating system on disk then you should use that and follow the instructions from that link. Good luck

WOOHOO it's working, Satellitehead it had to be what you said to do, but the thing was was that I did'nt go back in and set my IDE to PIO mode. I had been switching back and forth from DMA to PIO mode trying different things but it would'nt work. The windows reinstall had to have fixed it !!!! Thank you Thank you all :D <------- my big cheesy grin

right click on one of the primary ones and select properties then select advanced settings look at transfer mode and select it from there do this on both or do it one at a time and see what works out for you. Do this also fo rthe secondary drive settings at well. Good luck.

UPDATE: I kinda jumpped the gun it is reading the WII games now and starts the dump it got to about the last hour of the dump and bam same problem. So the Windows XP repair fixed the problem that I was having with the drive not seeing the disk. When it is dumping it seems to be working just fine until the error. Just to reitterate my GC games dump with no problems. I will try running in safe mode to see if that helps.

flavio: went to bios set first boot device to cd exit saving changes. Put in your windows disk. When the repair or install options come up tell it to install. Then when the second option for a repair comes up tell it to repair. I believe this is correct rite off the top of my head. But anyway that's what I did to get it to finaly recognise and start to dump the disk.
Good Luck;)

Guys, I am in the same boat as some of you. I just received the wiikey and have not installed it yet. I have spent the last few weeks deciphering the dumping and burning process and I was able to successfully dump & burn 3 of my originals so far with my laptop.

However I have a brand new desktop which I plan to be my backup station for video and games. I installed .net framework, winrar and rawdump on it as I did on the laptop. Tried to dump Wii sports as a test and got the "Arithmetic error resulted in overflow" (or something to that effect) error message 4 times in a row. I have not been able to successfully dump a single disk yet on the desktop. The Wii sports disk is less than 2 days out of the box so I know it is not a scratch or other physical interference.

Did you guys say you were able to start in "Safe mode" to correct this problem? If so how do you choose to start from safe mode? I have only done so when prompted after a hard reset or shut down. Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

I got to say buddy i so feel bad for you. Ive seen this error on about evry forum and have yet to see a clear cut answer to it..To go in to safe mode turn your computer on and press f8..Just keep pressing it and a screen will come up if you missed it windows will jsut strat like always. I dun think that will work though. You oculd try restore factory setting to your computer using the restore disks that came with the computer..and if you do happen to figure it out post back cuz alot of people will love you...Best of luck to you.....i knwo how it feels to be stuck with this crap

Flavio: From the thread it sounds like you did have the same issue at one time. Do you still have the issue or did it just go away after trying multiple different things?

CAINED, Did you try setting the drive to PIO mode? You could also try setting rawdump priority to high. Like Flavio said and my experience too I have yet to see a clear straight answer on this matter. Here's one of my experiences. My friend wanted me to backup her demon spawn childs favorite game (which was scratch to hell of course). I tried the usual things like safe mode, PIO, shut down scanners running in the background, etc.... Well upon doing yet another restart of the PC I forgot to shutdown stuff running in the background. I started Rawdump and it worked flawlesly form start to finish, go figure. I have'nt the slightest explaination as to why it decided to worked this time. Needless to say I kept the file backed up for her do to the fact that the game she had brought me was barely a week old and her kid nearly destroyed it. Good Luck and keep trying.

I took advice from various forums and was able to successfully dump both wii sports and barnyard last night. The hardware configuration that was giving me the problem seems to be as follows: Desktop PC with an internal DVD-rom and both the LG 8164B and my SONY burner connected externally via seperate USB 2.0 ports at the same time. Many forums suggested either changing Master/slave config or simply removing any unnecessary drives from the picture altogether. Coupled with the fact that when I successfully dumped 3 games two weeks ago they were with my laptop and I did not have both the LG 8164B and Sony burner connected at the same time I figured the simplest first troubleshooting step would be to disconnect the Sony burner from the USB while dumping. It worked first attempt and I am sorry I cannot explain why (due to my very basic PC skills) but if anyone else can derive a more technical explaination as to why/how this happened I am sure we would all benefit from it. Please share any ideas that pop in your heads regarding this. Thanks for all the great advice and I hope to be able to return the favor in the near future.
