I've been testing this release. Very stable, boots everything I throw in. I'm running openwii on an Atmega8 (not a Chiip unless it's got Chiip firmware heh) and a D2B chipset Wii. Great job and kudos to everyone on the openWii team! DO IT!

I agree Openwii is extremely stable for me as well. Other problems with loading and disc recognition that I get with the Wiifree are not there at all with the Openwii code. Personally I choose Openwii over any other opensource modchip right now.

Thanks Openwii team!

i have a chiip atmega8 with the openwii software running.
works perfect - and the best of all is the regionfree feature :)

now with the source code - we can go further to get best performance!

It's Chiip Design and cadex has put together a very noob-friendly guide. I couldn't have build it without it. So for me it's a Chiip with openwii-firmware.
I'll test the new firmware later and report the results. ^^

I've written a small interactive batch file for programming my chiip with OpenWii2.01C.
It asks you for your Chipset and Region(you don't have to use the Config-Disc)... but... don't knew if i'm right with the Codes for the Regions (0=JP, 1=USA, 2=PAL). Maybe someone with more knowledge could help me out !?

Anyway... I added the Autoprogramming-Tool for Testing-Purposes.
For Instructions please read the README.

How does the code run on a PIC12F629 compared to the Atmega8? Is there a PIC version available?

Bad, because it doesn't. XD
Someone has to port it first.

It runs on PIC.

Here is the URL. It has been ported for days.

Thanks. :)

"So the 2.1 release is only the sources but the 2.01 beta is still the latest firmware to use on our chips?"
"No, there are a few minor bugs fixed in the binary also. Mostly timing-related, with the ATMega8 (Chiip)."
quotes taken from this thread. http://www.openwii.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=139

The fixes are mostly for the ATmega but there are a few general ones.

The only difference is the Atmega8 port. Which is on our fourms for download.

Other then that. Its just a source code release. FULL GPL.

Come on guys. it's GPL like you wanted. lets see all the devs step up now.

So is the openwii for PICs beatter than Wiifree?...and they both solder to the same points right (as in i can have a externap IC socket and switch between a wiifree and openwii)
