hi,

i want to buy a modchip, but i am not sure if i should buy the sx or the pro version. i don't need the homebrew posibility nor the mp3 player. all i want to do is to play my multi regional backups. I know that the sx version is only flashable via a dvd, but that is fine for me, cause i don't think there will be that many new bioses after 1.1.

Can someone explain me the differences between the sx and the pro version besides the mp3 player, the usb stuff and the memory?

thanks!

if all youre intrested in is playing backups then the SX should be fine.

What about emulators? Do emulate a N64 oder SNES i don't need a special emulator software, right? Are there othere emulator or interessting development in the homebrew area?

The SX has a potential problem if a DVD flash failed. You'll need to throw the chip away as there will be no way to revive it.

Ops! Ok. that is a strong argument for the pro version! Thanks. i am going for the pro version.

I say go ahead and get the pro version, Its only $15 dollars more and you get USB, bigger memory size, etc. I believe their will be many more BIOS after the 1.1. This chip is still new and the qoob team seem dedicated to the project.

If you are not interested in any of the homebrew stuff, and you just want to play games, I say go with the Viper. It's $15 cheaper then the Qoob Pro, and it will do what you want it to, plus more(multiple games on one disc).

I second that. Unless you plan on running multiple bioses on a regular basis (you won't) just get the Viper.

i can not use the viper, cause i only have a laptop running mac os x. ..., and there is no serial port. i 'll go for qoob pro.

considering how many more features the qoob has, the qoob is well worth the extra cash. and I'm quite sure the SX has some sort of fail safe feature to recover from a bad flash.

with the new 1.2 bios, i'd have to say the SX is the best choice. with the features this bios has, it wont need much updating anyway

Can you name these features and explain why they're useful?

Doesnt qoob support 2 disc games and panasonic q? Compared to the viper having cheat codes, which the qoob does not have. The thing is that if the qoob does eventually get cheat code support, it will have a lot more space for cheats.

I wonder what MentalCube is going to add to the next version of Cobra(besides 2 disc support). I really have no Idea, but I can't wait to see what it is.
