I installed my WiiKey last night with a flawless wire install... very clean and very cut and dried. I have a D2B drive. First disc I booted was the WiiKey disc which booted first time no problems... I didn't make any changes in the config... just saw it worked and moved on. I used Sony DVD-R discs and burned the discs with my Mac Pro using Disk Utility. I then burned Excite Truck and Red Steel on the same media using the same machine and burner. Both of those read just fine, though Red Steel gave me an error a few minutes into the game. So I went back to Excite Truck and that worked for 45 minutes or so with no problems at all. Well this morning, I turn the unit on and Excite Truck was still in the unit and showed up in the disc channel, but then gave me an error when I hit the start button. Now NONE of the discs I burned last night will mount... all give me the "Unrecognizable Disc" error. I hadn't read anything about burning speeds before I burned the first batch of discs, I just burned at the default speed which was most likely pretty high. Could that be the issue? Could it be a bad chip? I'm just scratching my head here trying to figure out what it could be. This is my first Wii mod, but I've modded countless Xboxes. I would bet my Wii the install wasn't the issue. I also have WiiConnect24 enabled, is that a no-no?

Here is a tip:
Dont start your wii with any dvd inside the wii dvd rom, after you play a game remove the disk from the wii and turn off the console. If you d like to play again first turn on your wii and then insert your backup game.

I also wanted to mention that I noticed in some pictures I've seen from other users, their WiiKey chips have legible text on the chip. One of the first things I noticed when opening mine, it didn't have any text there, looked like it had been rubbed out. Anyone else's chip look like that?
I had the same with Exite truck. Yesterday it didn't boot but today is boots again. I think i'l try different media. (used platinum - dvd's)

I had this EXACT same problem, but with a Cyclowiz chip.
I installed it and it worked fine with several different backups. Then, I went to connect the upgrade switch (only the ends near the switch were touched, the wires were already installed on the drive board + cyclowiz) and all of a sudden it would not read discs.
Same with me, I had Excite Truck in the drive and it showed up in the Wii menu, but black screen when I tried to boot. Now, it will not recognize any backups.
weird.

i heard if you unplug the power from the wii and plug it back in and start it up it might work try that more than likely it would work it might be a problem with the wiikey chip itself cause other peopel are having the same problem.

I have same problem - http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread.php?t=53098
Sometimes I need to reset wii few times or/and unplug powercable and plug it back, so then the game boots

Also... what do you guys use to burn your disk images? I used Disk Utility in Mac OS X on my Mac Pro, but I do have Vista installed on my machine as well and can boot into their if there's a specific app I should be using. I also have Toast 8 for Mac OS X if anyone uses that and can confirm it works.
