View Full Version : Triwing screw stripped, am I screwed?

I stripped one of the triwing screw that is inside a deep hole with my cheap ebay triwing screwdriver. I tried heating the screw to loosen it but I think that made the problem worse. I don't have a drill nor a dremel so I don't think I will be able to take it out myself. What should I do? Are there any modders in the greater Vancouver area who is willing to help me out? Thanks in advance.

We had a similar problem where my bf stripped the screw w/ the triwing we got off eBay. The bottom of that screw is flat and not pointed like the triwing was. So he carefully filed the tip of the triwing down and then it worked.

I tried that already and it didn't work. I think it's best to let pros unscrew it. Any professional mod installers know if mod shops usually carry tools that are needed to remove stripped screws or do I need to go to repair shops to remove the screw first?

You can try to get it with instant glue.
Use some small amount of it on the tip of a small screwdriver and then press it down on the head of the screw. Hold it for some seconds, at the time i did it, it felt like i could just lift my whole WII with this fixation. Now you may could drive the screw out.

But be careful! Because if you let the superglue get into/between the screw and its hole you are getting more problems than you have already...

I hope the trick does it for you...

Again, please xcuse my bad english, its not my native language. :D

Dremel a slot into the screw with the cutting disc. Make it a flat head. Remove it.

Hows he going to get the dremel blade into the deep hole on the wii??

Thanks for posting this. I had a serious problem w/ two tri-wing screws on the bottom side just now, and your tip worked for me!

I didnt have a problem with rounding them of, but i didnt want to wait for the tri-wing to come so my dad made me a tool.

Basicly you get a metal pole, drill the right size hole in it, then saw a gap down two sides. You then put a flat end screwdriver in to wedge it open a bit and place over screw take the flat screwdriver out clamp with plyers and turn.
(sorry if the description of the tool isnt to great >.<)
I'll try get a picture soon for anyone who needs.

Last night i realised my tool i mentioned doesnt fit the deep holes, im just going to get a tri-wing save the hassel of making another one.
I'll get pictures tonight and make a new thread and you can make a thinner one if you wish.
