I was finishing my DB9 mod so i was solding a wire to the reset button but i was very sleppy on the time (wrong thing to do) and i bridged the 3 points....

i was able to clean it up but still have contact between the 3 points of the reset button somehow.... and strange enough i can make contact between any of the 3 points with the golden plate in the motherboard of the wii...

Is there a way to fix it unsolding the whole button and getting a new one?

Cause now when i turn the wii and enter ANY channel of game, after a few seconds the console give me black screen and i can only power off holding 5 seconds the power button

For this guide ive used a broken xbox360 Samsung main board. The pins are the same size and pitch as that of the Wii`s drive chip. The pen is to give you an idea on the size of the components you will be dealing with.

As you can see I have bridged a couple pins for the sake of this guide. This is very easily done if you’re not careful.

First you need to prepare the braid, put a `wipe` of flux onto it, this will help the braid draw the solder away from the bridged area. Then apply the braid over the bridged pins, and then apply the iron to the braid. You should see the solder be drawn to the braid. Apply more flux to the braid if needed, and repeat until the solder has been removed. Ill not lie, this isn’t an easy process, too much heat can damage the tracks, legs and or the drive chip. Check the points with a multi-meter set to audible.

Bridged points are now cleared. It’s the same process with the Wii`s PCB, but for work like this, its important that a low watt iron is used. The braid can be used to clear any small amounts of solder, the same method applies, `wipe` braid with flux, apply braid to the working area, then apply iron to braid to get the solder liquidus. For larger amounts a `solder sucker` can be used. They are not recommended for any fine work, especially work like this.

ive just stuck up a little bit of my guide. this part isnt in the one ive uploaded, its part of the update which i will be doing later tonight.

its the same principle as stated above , but obviously a little different.

just get some desolder braind and wipe with with flux, that should do it.

it could be that the solder has seaped down underneath. I would suggest desoldering the switch. Totally remove the switch and clean, and resolder.

remove the mainboard so you have a clear working area. Still get some desolder braid as you`ll need it, and flux.

If the DVD ribbon cable is not connected correctly then most channels will hang after about 10 seconds.

Excellent I'm glad you got it sorted!

I like to think of myself as the expert on all ribbon cable related issues. ;)
