If I am soldering to a point and the solder touches on of those close yellow lines on the wii board does it mess it up?

Also, can I tape electrical tape everywhere but the point I am soldering to in order to prevent overflowing of solder.

And, is it bad to have the soldered area with little like peaks ___/\____ ?

Thanks

if you get solder splashs everywhere yes, it is bad. and they are call tracks.

yes you can, but if you do it properly you wont have to.

yes and no, peaks are ok , but indicate sloppy soldering. If the soldering is `peaky` you may get dry joints.

use flux.

Thanks I actually have that on my desktop.

So the electrical tape wont melt to the board or anything?

And how can I avoid the peaks.

Thanks

you really dont need to use the tape to mask the soldering. its just not really needed. I suppose whatever makes you feel comfortable.

get a nice iron.
very thin tip
solder flux

you cant really go wrong.

to stop the poeaking get a rosin flux pen, dab a bit on all points to be soldered etc etc, and this will stop the peak, you may need to apply more depends on how many attempts you need to get the wires soldered correctly.

ive got an update coming for that document very soon, covering more soldering stuff , use of desolder braid , as much detail as possible. but it takes time.

From what I've heard of flux, it's worth it's weight in gold. The $6 bucks is a small price to pay to not screw up a $250 system. My .02 anyway.
