View Full Version : Did I ruin my Qoob Pro?

Can't seem to get backups to work. Sometimes the discs loads and sometimes they don't. But the color is black and white for the 2 games that I have ( mario party 6 and super smash bros melee). I am still able to play original games perfectly fine.
If it doesn't load, the disc stops spinning and I get three periods on the screen (...).
Does anyone know why I might be getting this error and why it's black and white?
Details of my cube install:
I have a qoob pro with gamecube dol-001(usa).
When I installed the chip I used a little too much solder on the IC legs and connect the F leg with the leg next to it. But I tried my best to removed the solder that joined them.
I then flashed the chip with the bios from qoobchip.com. LCD lights on and qoob bios works.
I adjusted the pot to ~180.
I'm using Nero and imgburn to burn on ritek g04's.
Can anyone tell me what might be causing the problem? Did my soldering mistake ruin it?

change the drivecode from a to b or the other way round.
also make sure no ic legs are joined, use some solder sucker to get the solder away from the pins.

It is probably black and white because you are running an NTSC game on a PAL gamecube

Thanks, changing both video modes to ntsc did the trick.
How do I know if a game is pal or ntsc?

Guess! If it looks wrong, you guessed wrong. :D
If you dumped the game, you should KNOW what it is... if you got it off the net - which is TOTALLY WRONG - it often says in the name and always in the nfo file that came with it.

I don't know the forum etiquette for when the problem is solved.
But, thanks for the replies, everything is working great now.

I always appreciate it when people post that they got it working and maybe a mention of how. That way the next person with the same problem can get a little more info from the successful folks.

"Check out a post in the "General GameCube Discussion Forum" titled "Multi game iso creator wanted" by "gc-unit"...
Everything you want to know is in there..."
There's software there that lets you open up a GameCube ISO, and you can see its region there...
PLUS I found that IMGBURN burns best GameCube ISOS... (just a random tip)
And to make a backup of a backup without a BBA, put the disc in your drive and run CloneCD, to make an ISO - READ DISC TO IMAGE ON HARD DISK...
3 files will be made... one of them is the GameCube ISO, the other is the whitespace to fill the disc, and the third is a CloneCD compatible file.. Use the tools in the post mentioned above to view the file created by the rip, in case you ever need to back up your ISOs.... it won't work for originals however...
You need different software, and a specialized range of LG drives to get GameCube (and WII) games to copy from the PC alons...
