i was just wraping up a successful wii mod and as i was taping down my wires my wiikey 3rd connection wire snapped the solder cap off the board >_>


wired solder
my questions are
1. will my wii work if i take off the chip, or should i be looking for a new wii
2. can i continue the mod, or should i be looking for a new wii to be modded

1. it will work. You just broke a serial port, nothing that's really needed.
2. you can use this Wii by soldering on the trace that leads to this connector-point.

or is it possable to solder onto the board infront of the pad thingy?

or is it possable to solder onto the board infront of the pad thingy?You could scrape the coating off of the trace and then solder the wire to the exposed trace... I recommend soldering the wire to the chips leg though.
