Hi, I just installed my Wiinja Deluxe today. I did the socket install. Before I got my Wiinja chip, I had a friend (pro) solder the 5 points to an 8 socket IC. I soldered Pin 3 to the Reset myself even though I'm an amatuer:) Once I received the Wiinja, all I had to do is snap it into the socket.
One recommendation on where to place the socket on the DVD drive. Put it in the gap between where the 2 GC controller input are. If you don't, the Wii won't close together.
Second recommendation is that avoid putting a label on the DVD to make it look all nice and stuff. Because I learned the hard way. I tested a game, and it worked, so I put a printed label on it. I put it in the Wii and the disc doesn't read, or freezes during play. I had to peel of the label on like 8 DVDs. I didn't figure it out until after I threw a few DVDs in the trash cuz I thought they were DREs.
Okay, now for the list of games that I tried.
Wii: US
Chip: DMS
Serial Number LU5085.... (I thought for sure I had the D2B because I bought my Wii in Feb 2007).
DVD burner: Aopen DUW1608 (about 2 years old, 12x burner)
DVD media used: Memorex DVD-R 16x and Verbatim DVD+R 16x
Speed and software: Imgburn at 4X
All US games, and all worked (I only tested each game for like 5 mins):
