Anyone know of a good place to get LED's? They're like $4 USD for 1 when I hear about getting 20 for $1! Also, If you read this Duey, I want to know where you got those purple LED's for your cube.

They can be found in any computerstore in your neighbourhood. I live in Holland and I can get them in the computerstore for 10 eurocents a piece (= about 3 dollarcents right?)

:D

I buy all my leds from www.123leds.com. THeir leds are a good price, and they only charge like $2 to ship them.

Ok, I'd also like to add that I found an ebay store that'll sell like 25 blue 3.2 v 5000mcd leds for 1 US Cent plus $5 USD shipping. So it comes to pretty much $5 USD for 25 great leds. Great deal compared to $5.99 for one. The seller is hktaiyuen on ebay and he also sells equipment for leds such as testers and such. I do like best hong kong though.

just a note about 'purple' LEDs... a while back, I, too was looking for purple LEDs, only to find ultra-violet ones, and yes, they 'are' damaging to the eyes, so be VERY careful what you buy... unfortunately, I was unable to find 'purple' LEDs (which I think would have lookd REALLY nice on a black GC), so I kind of settled with the fact that maybe there is no such thing as a purple LED... can anyone prove me wrong?

Anyways, here's a site I found useful about 'UltraViolet LEDs'
LED Museum:
http://ledmuseum.home.att.net/

about UV LEDs, please read, even if you don't plan on modding your LED.
http://ledmuseum.home.att.net/leduv.htm

Here's a quote:
"You only get one set of eyes - and if you wreck them, you can't just go down to the local seven-eleven and buy a can of them."

"Human eyes are just not meant to view wavelengths of much shorter than 420nm"

edit: actually, I found on the site that there are "true violet" LEDs, but I never found them for sale anywhere... if anyone knows of a place that sells them, please let me know, as I am interested in them myself

I saw a place that sold True Violet leds but I can't find the site anymore. It might have been besthongkong.com But I dont have time to browse. Feel free to go searching.

Edit: http://www.besthongkong.com/modules.php?name=catalog&file=product_info&products_id=49 they say Ultra Violet on the main page, but they also say Ultra Green, Ultra Yellow, and Ultra Red (lol) So when you go to that product page, they show up as Violet.
