Exactly, and who needs USB and more memory iff all you want to do is play "back-up" games?

who needs USB flash, when u can flash via BBA (a feature which is not supported by the viper)?

You can also flash with a DVD, so you don't even need a BBA

Don't claim flash from bba until its implemented. Afaik, the qoob bios in its current state doesnt support flash from bba. Sorry but the viper is still over the qoob for now.

yup, seems the sx is slightly cheaper then vipergc. In the end it comes down to bios support. for simply booting backups, both chips are about equal now. i guess its a race to multidisk game support now. whoever nails that first takes the lead in my book

on a side note, the fact that the sx is only 1mbit confirms that thats all the space thatll ever be needed for the essential stuff

I was just looking at the pictures of the chip on their website, and it has no way to hook a programmer to it. Is it going to have something like cromwell(xbox), flashed to it when you purchase it that allows you to flash from the network or a dvd? If not, I don't know how youy would flash it:confused:

Thats just from the bios, to update to a new version. How do you get the bios on there in the first place?

more than likley it will come with the bios already on.

well thats the only logical thing you cant start the chip without there beeing a working bios on it. And afterwards you can update the bios by using dvd´s. I dont know for sure but I read somewhere on maxconsole forums that one guy managed it to burn a game on a dvd-rw and he could load it so it would be real nice to use this way and dont lose a dvd for every flash. But to be honest I rather paid the 10 € more for the pro version with usb and I would also like to use the second bios bank for flashing it with emulators. I also like freakware as they are much cheaper then gamefreaks and have a very nice customer hotline and quick shipment. For european users this would be the better choice. But to stay on-topic basically the sx version is all you need if you want to play backups and might consider using one blank dvd for every flash.

Yeah, if I end up ordering one, it will deffinantly be the Pro, as it is only $15 more, and you get a ton more features.

But which features are important if you just want to play "back-up" games without swapping?

For the Dutch among us. The SX for only €33,- :D

I ended up ordering one to install in my second gamecube, and the reason I did was I like how you can save dol's to the other parts of the 2MB flash, and then load them from the bios menu, no need to insert a DVD with the dols on it. I really like my Viper though, and wanted to install a modchip in my second gamecube, so I went with the Qoob Pro to see what it's like, to see if I like it as much as the Viper.
