Right , I've got a game here that is undersized at 1.30GB , it works fine at that size , but would like to get it to 1.35GB cos I read it's easier on the laser and all my others are 1.35GB.
Last time I used fstfix on it , with just the F option , it refused to boot. I was told I need to use both T and F when padding one out to 1.35GB.
So I just want to make sure before I use another disc , using the F and T option will pad it to 1.35GB without screwing it up and making it not boot?
(Using fstfix 1.5F)

I've been wondering the same thing. Two more questions though. Which program is the best for doing this, and is a 32K align needed? If the 32K align isn't needed, then when does it need to be used?
I wouldn't ask normally, but there's been so many different opinions on the matter over the months since viper came out and hard to know which one to go with.

Ok well I bought a spare mini just for testing and tried it , with f and t like I was told , and yet again it does not work.
So that's
1.30GB iso =boots and plays fine.
Fixed to 1.35GB with fstfix using just the F = No work , boots but black screen after gamecube logo. Laser on and disc still spinning.
Fixed with fstfix using f and t = Same as above.
So why is it not working. Everyone seems to swear by this program for rebuilding iso's yet it refuse's to work for me.
What did I do wrong and how do I fix it and make it pad the game without screwing it up.

I have never rebuilt an iso, I just burn as is, and they all play perfectly.

When I tried it before I got a black screen too. What I think the problem is, is that you're increasing the size of the file and doing a 32K align. I have no idea when to do a 32K align and why, mainly cuz whenever I'd ask no one would ever answer. My best guess would be to try it without the 32K align and only increase the size. I don't know which letter it is but if you just load the program in dos without any letters after it, it'll tell you which letter does what.

A little tip that has worked for me with garbage removed image. After fixing the image, and you may need to try a few fixing options, use a little utility called Phoenix, it is detailed in Brakkens FAQ, to open the image. If you see the game banner and disc info on the fixed file, chances are (for me anywayt) it's going to work when you burn it. Might take a bit of messing around, but sometimes you will find after attempting to fix the disc that the loader does not recognise the image, meaning to me that the image has become corrupt. Two garbage removed images specifically that I used this technique for were Second Sight and Sonic Mega Collection. The first time I just merrily fixed the image and attempting a burn, and got coasters.

I tried with both f by itself and f and t like I said in my earlier post , both times black screen.
F was just padding to 1.35GB and and f and t is both padding and 32k align and both was the exact same result. Only one that works is the untouched undersized one.
@ mrmonket , thanks for the tip , I'll give that phoenix a try to see what it says about the iso.
Other than that , think I'm going give up with this program , all it seems to do for me is break the game , so I'm gonna leave em alone.
Edit:
Right , got that phoenix program , installed it and loaded the image and the little banner and game name both showed up fine. Both the unfixed and fixed showed them.
Only difference is unfixed works , supposedly fixed one does not.
Any suggestions?.

Thats what I say. If it isn't broken, don't fix it.

Because I know it works fine , so as it was undersized I was using as a test image to see if I can get fstfix working and not just screwing the game up.
As if I could , I would use the same procedure on other undersized images , rather than burning to find they do not boot wasting a disc , or using fstfix first and finding it's screwed the iso up yet again and wasting another disc.
I still would like to know what I did wrong though.
Game is undersized , so supposedly I am supposed to use fstfix on it to pad it as thats what it's for. Yet using the F option by itself so just padding to 1.35 or using the F and T options so padding and 32k allign , both result in a game that does not boot. Only one that does is the untouched image.
So I would really like to know , where exactly I went wrong? , as I used the program for what it was designed for and it done me over and broke the game.
So anyone like to enlighten me as to why?.

You must use only FSTFIX v1.1b or FSTFIX v1.5f
EVERY OTHER VERSION SCREWS UP ISOS

I was using 1.5F , in my orignal post in brackets so might not of noticed it.

I take it by the lack of new replies , no one know's why it appears to break the game.
So why does everyone keep saying they have to have garbage , if padding it out just seems to make it refuse to boot?.
How do you succesfully pad one out then?
