Here are some pics of the wiring of my modchip dongle. I have a wiikey on order, and a cyclowiz. The cyclowiz dongle has a swith on it for "DVD Upgrade." I used a DB15 connector for future upgrade possibilities.

Nice job, I think its a cool idea all though I might still stick to leaving the modchip inside...personal preference

I would agree with you, but I have 3 different mod chips, and can't put all three internally ;) So this is the next best solution!!

I totally agree with ya. If you don't mind me asking but what all mod chips do you have?:)

Shouldn't really care how stupid it looks... how often are you looking at the back of your Wii when it is set up for normal use? And for that matter how stupid does it look with the a/v, power, and sensor cables hanging out of it?
I personally think it's great. This will be especialy useful if you ever want to use one of those open source chips (chiip for example). Then you could just throw the socket and chip inside the dongle for easy access. Simply unscrew the dongle, remove the chip from the socket, and put it back in the programmer.

This is EXACTLY why I made the Dongle...I have some experience programming pics, atmels, and atmegas, so this is a perfect solution. I also used a DB15, so I still have 8 wires left over, or I can re-solder and have 15 available!! Isn't testing/modding fun??

I'm a noob to the console modding scene, but i have to tell you that many, many times, i've found that modding something to increase functionality/make things better or different, is way funnier than the result itself, is making things for the only pleasure of doing them that makes modding so great. Many times i find myself doing things for the simple fact i wanted to know if i could, i think that's what's called a hobby...
