Rumor: Wii Region Free ISO Patcher

A large number of you have flooded our mail box indicating that a rumor is floating around the web that a Wii region free ISO patcher is to be released very soon. The patcher when released, should make a game playable on ANY console. It reportedly has a 75 percent compatibility rate and is using the same concepts as found in the Wiikey.

Run this app to patch NTSC games to run on PAL.

Rename your unscrambled iso to backup.iso and put in the same
dir as our application. We'll bring a better gui version soon.

Metal Slug is the only game we tested, but more should work. Some
will not work due to how the game is coded, the same reason no
PAL will work on NTSC when patched.

Finally something good coming to europe and other PAL territories.

Shame NTSC can't play PAL, but you already get to play most Japanese releases without patching! Most PAL releases come out after NTSC anyway.

Why is this fake? Wiikey claims to have support for NTSC on PAL machines. When Backups are run, the necessary code is injected from the chip. I guess in the Wiikeys case, it patches the iso on the fly. Where as this app would pre patch it. Is it so hard to believe?

so its NOT REGION FREE after all


I dont think its hard to make one for JAP --> US since the region trick has been discovered

Seems like nothing is working anymore on my Wii.

Its not playing any backup anymore after it played metal slug.

just checked on another discussion board, and those guys dont experience the same problems. they also tested metal slug, and their wii works just fine (still playing both originals and backups without the necessity to reboot). its a german discussion board...

It played the metal slug game fine after which i tried the patche PI version of trauma center SO.

And now not a single backup is working.

Guess have to order a new chip :D

I just got that same advice on another forum as that person had the same problem after using another ntsc game.

He had the same problems as no game was recognized so he unplugged it for about an hour and everything worked fine afterwards.

So trying that right now :D

I have to confirm that after you cycle the power a couple of minutes everything is working again.

However after I again insert a NTSC game into the wii it wont read any backups anymore (after you played the game).

So if it means i have to cycle the power from my wii everytime i want to play a ntsc game.........:rolleyes:

From how this is looking its almost like this program is temp or perminitly changing the region of the console all together. They should release the source code so this could be looked at.
