When you download and extract the file, there is a file called cn302.h - open it as a text file (I used Wordpad in Windows) and there is a description of the connections to use when making a cable.
There is no mention of capacitors or diodes, so YMMV.

This is no way a softmod solution like what was on the GC. This still requires soldering and all...until someone figures out a softmod for the Wii,this doesnt mean anything for soft modders. Although, this is probably the cheapest way to go for harware modders for us that dont have any soldering skills (about 80% of the world population...LOL)...this doesnt really do anything..... For now,I'll just buy the used games on ebay.

ya 20% is a huge number to even know what modchips are.
i know quite a bit of people that learned soldering in highschool classes. i'm actually surprised i asked a handful of my closest friends and they all knew how to solder. i'm like ok lol.

This is not a softmod solution at all. It requires a physical (wired/soldered) connection to the Wii to work. All it does is replace the modchip and uses a PC executing a program to inject the required code into the Wii DVD Drive.
Still needs the modder to create and connect a cable to both the WII and PC.

These instructions are a clarification (not modification of) the DVD drive Serial tool cable described by Erant in the Wii_DVD_Drive_Linux_Tool.rar file set. IN many cases the text is the same, but for the most part the instructions are paraphrased to clarify.
I take no credit for designing this cable. I just wanted to help illustrate what cable everyone should be making.
I also want to point out that I have not made/tested this cable personally. Specific diode requirements and the capacitor requirements some are recommending can be addressed by folks who have this cable working.
Here we go.
On Wii near IC3001 (this is your DMS/D2A/D2B chip) find the following arrangement of solder pads:
- 1 -
2 3 4
- 5 6
You may recognize this arrangement from the numerous Wii Drive modchips that connect there. It's not coincidence. The numbers represent solder pads. The - are blank space. We are concerned with:
3 - SBO1 (Output)
4 - SBT1 (CLK)
6 - SBI1 (Input)
You will also need a ground connection. To find a suitable ground (GND) pad on the Wii, orient the drive so that you can read the writing on IC3001. Look at the connector P3001 - The rightmost pad beneath it is GND and the third from the right is GND. Recommend you check/verify with a multimeter before you solder.
You will need a DB-25 Male connector (it will connect to your PC's parallel port when finished). Figure out which pin is 1. You'll be connecting wires and/or diodes to pins 1,11, 14, 18. Diodes should be attached to pins 1 and 14 in reverse (protect the Wii). Connect wires to pins 11 and 18, and to the back of the diodes on 1 and 14. Then connect as follows to the Wii:
DB-25 Pin 1 (with diode) to Pad 4 on the Wii
DB-25 Pin 11 (no diode) to Pad 3 on the Wii
DB-25 Pin 14 (with diode) to Pad 6 on The Wii
DB-25 Pin 18 (no diode) to suitable GND on Wii Drive (see above)
It should look like this (|< is where the diodes belong):
PC (DB-25 Pin #)-----------------------------------------------Wii Pad #
1 -------------|<--------------------------------------------------- 4
11 ------------------------------------------------------------------ 3
14 ------------|<--------------------------------------------------- 6
18 ---------------------------------------------------------------- GND
Remember to check all connections with a multimeter.
Anyone who has success or failure based on these instructions, please provide feedback, and I'll update the info as required.
Good luck, and thanks again to all those who contribute so much to the scene.

Does it work with DMS/D2A?
it's much more convenient than iSO loader 0.2...
gboshort
02-24-2007, 04:01 AM
My understanding is that this WAB version is similiar in function to the ISO loader 0.2, except it functions with D2B chipset Wiis.
The ISO Loader 0.2 works with D2A and DMS chipsets. HTH.

Hopefully...it is looking that way now... someone would probably have to figure out how the Wii menu works though...it would have to be from SD card and copy to the Wii internal memory just like your game saves........still would probably require some kind of DVD disc boot to show up on the Wii menu....hmm..LOL  Oh well, right now I'd rather have some kind of cheat code device for the Wii...Xploder was supposed to have some cheat saves to download but they lied about there download release date....

Hmm could not get this to work. Used some Diodes from a 300 in 1 science kit my friend had but could not get it to sync. Was thinking about getting a capacitor to put in but i think ill play it safe and just wait for my WiiKey to come. Good think is not i have all the wiring done for the WiiKey.

yeah, I solved this, but a new problem found.
My IBM X31 notebook can't patch the drive correctly
Only my desktop which uses Abit NF7-S can patch it perfectly
maybe I should add a 47pf cap.

Dont laugh, but can someone please explain in idiot terms how this works and how one would use it? I get the cable part to talk to the Wii from the parallel port, but what does the EXE do? you run that on your PC connected to the Wii, then what?
Thanks.

I got the same message, and I'm without using a capacitor. It is not the sync problem that other mentioning. It is the DVD+R cannot be recognized by wii, I burn another copy with Ridata DVD-R and it reads sometimes. It displays "PatchinG..." when it works.

Just make a cable to connect with PC, and then turn on your wii, and run wabmodcheap.exe
that's all.

It was the answer to your question. You just need a bit more of an idiot's guide, as you put it.
Make the cable, soldering it to your Wii
Connect the cable to the parallel port of your PC
Turn on your wii, let it boot.
Run the .exe file on your PC - it will talk to your Wii and 'fix' it
Insert your backup Wii game into your Wii console and enjoy.
Shut everything down when you are done.
I haven't tried it, but once the game runs, you can disconnect the PC and/or stop the program. You will have to repeat the process each time you play a different backup.
Hope that helps!

Thats EXACTLY what I needed! Thank you! That is badass! So it pretty much patches the wii's memory to bypass the check? Awesome. Can I buy the cable somewhere premade?
oh man please!
you'll have to solder it _into_ your wii, so to make that cable is not the problem

Im still trying to open my Wii but i dont have the tri wing thing... So i figured i might google on my serial number to see if mine is even moddable and i came to LEH123 and 1 site said it wasnt possible, but other sites said that LEH12xxxx should work.
Im a little confused on what to believe right now.
Does any1 here happen to have a LEH123xxxx model and can confirm that it has 1 of the working chipset ?
